Polestar 2 doesn't get the $7, 500 tax credit discount in the US because it's made in China. That makes the value discrepancy even more starker.

Like the Tesla i think the rear end for both look better than front. I prefer the Tesla's cleaner futuristic front without the grille. Inside screen/software - Tesla by a mile.

I had a Polestar as rental car. I felt a little bit too snug in the driver’s seat and didn’t really enjoy the closed in feeling, small windshield and low header. Tesla has an open space feeling when in the driver’s seat.

Saw a polestar parked the other day -- looks even better in person.

Just got my 23 Model Y and I was very nervous about the ride, noise and build quality. Everything has been great so far. The door feels good when it closes and the build quality is awesome. I did drive a Polestar for a week and the range was terrible plus the charging was an issue. This was before Tesla announced their super charger sharing.

Wow I rented a polestar (being a model y owner) while traveling for work, and absolutely loved the sound of the Polestar blinker haha. I guess to each his own

Polestar also have battery preconditioning if you route to or through a fast charger.

EVDave rented one while his Tesla was in Atlanta getting PPF. He had significant visibility and usability complaints, but he is also taller. My friend that has one complains about infrequent software updates. I don’t like the option list, almost as bad as Porsche, everything you want is extra. I have a late MYLR, doors sound like my Mercedes, but I don’t like frameless windows on the Tesla and I do prefer either real door handles or those on the MachE. From an engineering standpoint, the MY is far superior. I also prefer to buy as little as possible from China.

I've recently test driven both of these. I wasn't keen on the cramped driving position of the polestar but other than that it was very nice and excellent to drive (i drove the awd version). Loved the MY apart from the poor rear visibility which was a surprise to me. I could live with it though. Also of course recent removal of parking sensors with MY is an issue. End if the day cant get away from utility of the SC network. Still deciding. I think the P2 is selling well in the uk im seeing a lot of them around recently

Eta i think the tesla sc network opening up is overstated. If you look at whats been published its only around 15% of sc chargers. That combined with the lower range which i wasmt aware of so thanks for that, i think this settles it for me.

I would love to mix the best of both into one vehicle. I've always been a fan of the Polestar's exterior aesthetics.

Good balanced review 👍 and I say that as a Polestar owner, interesting to see a car without the plus pack and pilot pack.

The turn signal sound for Polestar 2 is a hate or love feature. Personally, I absolutely LOVE IT. It is so futuristic and nice sounding compared to all the other cars I've driven. This may be a thing in Sweden but in Swedish Facebook groups, you'll find how everyone's raving about the nice-sounding turning signal. I find that this review lacks lots of info. Most people who know Polestar recommends not getting the performance package but do get the plus package and dual motor version where the acceleration speed is the same as Tesla Y. The single pedal driving is much more enjoyable in Polestar 2 vs Tesla Y after testing the two cars multiple times. You also get the same acceleration in Polestar 2 with less sea sickness feeling in your stomach. I don't know what magic juice they put into the Polestar 2 but it is much more enjoyable in Polestar 2. The feeling of driving a Polestar 2 is way better than Tesla Y. If you like driving cars, the Polestar 2 is for you. Also, the loudness of the car and the AC is much louder in Tesla Y. I test-drove 10+ EVs before I got my P2, and I had a decibel meter with me. Wow, what a difference. Oh yes, the Polestar 2 has manual buttons and levers for what you expect. No fiddling around with the nipples on the steering wheel that you have on the Tesla. Again, there are so many things to compare between cars that this review does not even touch upon. Look for better comparisons.

The OTA updates on polestar are so-so. Some require you to go into the shop to get. Also the P2 has a significant problem with their Bluetooth antenna that causes basic functions to fail sometimes (like the ability to unlock the car door). It was the reason I ended up looking at a tesla.

Thanks Gjeebs for this informative video. You are doing great as an auto reviewer. Good job. :) You weigh the pros and cons of each car and provide us with an honest review based on your experience. At $50K, the Polestar falls short in my opinion with all of the features lacking in the car that is included as standard in the Model Y with a slightly higher price. The Model Y has safety features included from their experience with the Tesla Vision based FSD Beta software to help automatically prevent accidents. These features will just get better over time. My 2018 Model 3 still drives and feels like a brand new car after a software update. It has the same software features as a 2023 Model 3.

I drove polestar for 3 days in Southern California. At first yes turn signals are going through the speakers. But it grew on me and by the end of day 2 I liked it )
Second thing it was dual motor and oh boi it was nice to drive

Great review 👍🏻
I’ve been driving a Polestar 2 for 2.5 years, the dual motor long range with all the options and love it. For sure, rear space is limited for adults.

As a 2022 Tesla Model Y owner who test drove a Polestar 2 I certainly agree with all your observations. My second car is a 2023 BMW i4 edrive40 which is fun to drive with rear wheel drive, and quick acceleration and classic BMW handling. And, it has a classic sun roof with all the adjustments. I see you have reviewed ICE BMWs, but i didnt see a review of the i4. Would love to see you do that one!
