To be honest, this is what most restaurants do. I had the best bombolinis (little Italian donuts filled with pistachio cream) ever a while ago and I really wanted the recipe, so I asked our waiter and he told me they order the donuts in and only make the cream themselves. And I get the feeling it was the same for everything else.
