#watercolortechnique #negativepainting #watercolortutorial
In this video I will show you how I painted these nasturtium flowers step-by-step, and walk you through detailed examples of how negative painting technique can enhance your watercolor work and allow you to create beautiful effects, including:
1. Adding beautiful backgrounds to your watercolor images, with lots of visual interest.
2. Creating smooth edges, without paint “leaking” from one object to another.
3. Painting the finest details without having to use messy masking fluid - including flower stamens and leaf veins.
4. Creating a better sense of of light by adjusting the “temperature” of your watercolors across large areas of paper (from warm to cold colors and back)
5. Creating better contrast by modifying values (light/dark)
🎥 VIDEOS MENTIONED:
🎨 SUPPLIES I USED:
BRUSH: Several sable and synthetic brushes in sizes ranging from #00 to #8
🎨 PIGMENTS*:
- DS Perylene Green:
- Winsor & Newton Aqua Green
Please note, your don’t need all of these, I just like to use a variety and mix on paper. Your can get away with 2-3 of your favourite greens, 1 blue, 1 yellow, 1 brown and 1 orange.
