Where does the theory for this come from? In my knowledge the 2nd should be the right one -3^2 = (-3)^2 and not -(3^2)

Keep them math shorts coming, Mr. h. 😊

I love how everyone is mad about you saying that -3^2=-(3^2), even though that is well established is the order of operations, while nobody is mad about saying sqrt(-1)=i, which, though I personally fully agree, is the only controversial part of the video.

Been awhile for me. Nice to see you again. ✌💞💪

Before last answer you can say √i²×√3² because -1=i²

-2^3=(-2)^3 ✅ BUT -2^2=(-2)^2 ❌ Notice odd vs. even exponents.

But why it is not equal to √9. Minus minus gives plus(-3×(-3)) can you answer

iيعنى -١والمعادله الاولى هى -٣ يعنى 3×-1ممكن بلتعويض تكون 3و-1هيكون i❤

For an explanation, I assume the first answer is wrong--cancelling out the exponent and radical--as it is not possible to multiply two identical numbers together to get negative three. Or any negative number for that matter.

Why do we only take the positive square root?
Because I cannot like and dislike this reel, so I chose to like 👍

Sqrt(-9) = sqrt(-1 * -1 * -1 * 9) = i*i*i*3 = 3i^3

There are more ways to get it wrong. One of them is very important that you omitted. Many people will want to give the answer with a + -. This is wrong because only the principal Baker is correct (since the sqrt was not derived).

Interesting. I asked 4 middle school teaachers who teach maths to their classes and they all got this wrong, as did I. We all assumed you square -3 as the whole integer.

The sign is part of the number. Parenthesis aren't needed squaring it. Therefore you get +9 and the minus is gone. Math is precise and you should be precise too. You have to declare, whether the minus is a sign or an operator. Your words seem to say it is a sign therefore you are wrong.

sqrt(9) = +/- 3
So, sqrt(-9) = +/- 3i

(-3^2)^1/2 =(-9)^1/2 <=> 3i(1)^1/2=3i

It's actually wrong way to write it should be with brackets

Exponentiation before multiplication. So -3^2 = -9.

You can also raise it to the second power, removing the square root, then apply the power of two to -3, getting 9. Is this correct?
