Shots taken with my "parasite" Flip Ultra HD camera while I was shooting slow motion footage with my EXF1. Not the best image, but the Flip has decent mics that picked up the wicked sound from the A10.
The A-10 West Demonstration Team put on a really good show. The taxiing footage at the end was taken with the EXF1 as comparison in HD quality.

What people should really notice is how quiet this thing is until its literally right on top of you. One of its great advantages is that its so quiet that it can get into an attack run without being heard by its victims as early as a more powerful jet might.

Really impressive. I'm always in awe of this aircraft.

Several actually: it would increase fuel consumption, turn it into a beacon for heat-seeking missiles, make the plane heavier and more expensive but most importantly: more speed isn't always good. In degrees per second the A-10 can turn as fast as the F-16 but because its slower it does so in a smaller area. Therefore it can stay within a valley or below the clouds and not lose sight of its target. It also makes it easier to aim the gun.

The A-10 is an attack plane. Attack planes generally do not have afterburner. If this was an air superiority fighter it would have afterburner and a much different design.

Man, the A 10 has always been a favorite of mine... the titanium bathtub strikes fear into the hearts of all the unfortunate tank crews that faced off against it and it's 30mm Vulcan gun, featuring depleted uranium rounds for that bit of extra kick! I thouroly believe that in the unlikely event of an alien invasion, the A10 will be the #1 strife jet the world has... come on ET or Darth Vader, The A10 will make the force it's bitch

@tripwireful I've spoken to A10 pilots - some of whom jumped over from F016's. they LOVE this plane. "You can really fly the hell out of it, it's bug, safe, and handle really so well. Love flying, love killin' tanks with em." They were mission designed for tank killing and CAP. Check 6:14 - imagine you're a tank and this thing's 20mm gatling gun is aimed at you. And rockets, bomblets, the works. Supersonic would defeat it's purpose.

The fighter wing where I live ran these from 81-92. I miss them flying over my house.

Does this plane has to do anything with P-47 Thunderbolt ? You know it's future version ?

These planes are actually very good for dogfighting, they diffidently prove superior when it comes to fire power and defense counter measures.
