A-10 Demo Team Unveils New 2021 Livery

The USAF A-10 Thunderbolt II Demonstration Team debuts their new 'heritage' aircraft at the 2021 Heritage Flight Conference at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, AZ. The jet is painted in a special Southeast Asia camouflage scheme as a tribute to veterans of the Vietnam War. It will serve as the primary demonstration aircraft for the 2021 airshow season.

The other specially painted A-10 is painted in the colors of a WWII P-51 Mustang and flew demonstrations in 2019 and 2020. Sadly, it will be repainted soon and this may be the only time the two ever fly together.

That A-1 Sky Raider was a tank but still dwarfed by the Warthogs. Sure wish I could have been there.

Kudos to Hans Rudel. When he was captured at the end of WWII, an American army officer threatened him with turning him over to the Soviets, to which Rudel calmly replied. "I am sure they would be happy to have my expertise in tank killing." He wasn't turned over, but his book 'Stuka Pilot' was required reading for the A10 Warthog design team.
