July 2019, Mangalore-Karwar Section, Konkan Railway

This is possibly my best in the series yet, with another Volume coming up in a few weeks for the Karwar-Mangalore return journey. With rapid electrification on this section, it is only a matter of time before the peaceful diesel section is riddled with wires and soulless electric locos. I hope this series of videos will serve as a nostalgic reminder of more beautiful times.

Track sounds on Konkan Railway are in a league of their own, and I have tried to record sounds at every speed between standstill and 90kph. All videos recorded on board the Bangalore-Karwar Express (which had an Erode WDM3D) using a GoPro Hero 5 Black and Zoom H1n.

The sound and the scenery makes me feel nostalgic about our Mangalore-Mumbai journey we used to have in Matsyagandha on every vacation. Matsyagandha was not just a train but an emotion for me and my siblings.

I moved out of India when I turned seven. I’m in my early teens now. I used to visit my family back in India for two months every year but due to this ordeal and other circumstances, I haven’t been able to travel back in over three year now. I desperately miss the sound of the trains, the rickshaws, my grandparents and the loud community celebration. This is something which every RF wants....online there are background music for meditation...for sleep....for study....but we RFs enjoy these track thnx a lot for making such videos....a lot of hard work goes in making such videos....the combo of SL track sounds with konkan railway visuals is like HEAVEN
