Thought experiment: Let’s say you were born in China in 1900 and lived to be 100 years old. By the time you are an adult, you have seen the fall of the last imperial dynasty and the rise of the warlords. You then have over a decade of war against the Japanese, a Civil War and the communists come to power. You then see the brutality of the Great Famine and the Cultural revolution, but finally in the last few decades of the 20th century you see one of the most extraordinary economic upheavals in history, and the rise of China as the superpower that we know today.

Really well made, researched and delivered video!! I was honestly a bit surprised to find such a good quality material here! There's just two critiques from me: 1. you really butchered Chinese names. And I mean it. Totally butchered. I would not recognize most of the people if I did not know their names beforehand and go "ah, he probably means XYZ". I think you could at least learn how to read pinyin. Edit: you butchered Michał Gorbaczow's name too 2. I think you should present some positive sides of Mao as well. He is one of the most important people in Chinese history for a reason and you put him in the worst light possible. It'd also explain why many people are still attached to him

And Chinese Communist Party didnt lift anyone out of poverty, they just changed the definition of who is living in poverty. It is around 500$ a year, under 2$ per day. Also, chinese people are industrial AF, so if anyone lifted them out of poverty, they did it 100% themselves, the government just didn't punish them anymore because of it. (at least most)
