A small house provides big space for togetherness. Less walls and less rooms means less separation… more collective energy gathers amongst those who are spending time together in the same room. Like you, Immy, we have a cozy common room that has many huge windows. My partner and I chill out there every day. We love seeing the mountain views, the wild bird feeding stations, and the wildlife that ambles through our back yard. I recall you saying a few months ago (before you moved overseas) that you don’t think you’re very good at ‘putting things together’. Well, I think you’ve done a fabulous job and I see charm, coziness, and comfort in every room. Thanks for this welcoming house tour. I loved it and I look forward to seeing how this space changes and evolves with seasons. Lastly… I agree with your husband… big wooden cutting boards for the win!!🔪 💦🌎Ⓜary💕🏠

The fact that you feel the need to justify baking three cookies is ridiculous - people need to calm down and focus on their own lives instead of trying to be an armchair expert in someone else's.

I loved this house tour! It's so hard finding pieces secondhand that all go together, but everything in your home feels warm, cosy, and cohesive. Congratulations!

I love your cosy home! And it's so nice to hear you say "my husband" and to name all the things you have both brought into your first home together. It speaks unexplainable happiness...

About the christmas tree; I once bought a potted christmas tree with the same intention as you to use it each year. However, as it was used to standing outside, bringing it inside quickly made it look very sad and it ultimately died. So make sure to water it enough as the needles will experiene more evaporation than what it is accustomed to. Also acclimatizing it by only leaving it indoors for a couple of hours each day for a period before permanently bringing it inside might be beneficial.

Also, I am loving the recent videos 🎉

In some cities in the Netherlands 63m2 is quite normal for a couple. A garden is a luxery. All the best to you!

Just making this comment as I was baking multiple things today and was not being organized and efficient about it so was running a hot oven waiting for the next thing more than I usually would….. it’s winter. It’s cold. Not the most efficient way to heat a room but that extra heat is not being wasted! In the summer I am much more careful and organized!

When the weather warms up and you start your garden, I recommend planting a sunflower or two, to attract bees for pollination. If you have an aversion to the bees (I always did), you can plant the sunflower(s) in a far part of the garden. The bees will find their way from there. :)

What you buy is way more important than what you do in your home. I remember in my environmental class from last semester I read something like 98% of co2 emissions were on the industrial level. So the best thing you can do is eat less animals and buy less things (you as a general term for people, this is not directed at you) it's like one coils stop showering for a year or buy one less steak.

The thing I love about having land for a garden is the planning during the winter. I love thinking about what we’ll realistically eat, how I could organize the veg and if any companion planting can occur. I sketch out possibilities, draw and watercolor plans…this coming year I’m going up with a lot of vertical fruits due to space limitations and will be trellising cucumbers, cantaloupes and pie pumpkins. Then I’ll do cowpeas up as well. On the ground will be black beans and beets. Play around, especially because you’ll be starting from scratch!

You have such a pleasant voice. And I appreciate how you are even considerate of the bugs.

My husband and I recently bought a house about the same size as yours! We've also been focused on getting second hand items, or the highest possible quality item that will last forever if we do need to buy a new item. So far out only disappointment has been a lovely kitchen table that we bought for our last home that feels a little too large for our small dining room. I loved seeing how you've made your new house into a cozy home!

Also, your little garden is lovely. My garden is nothing but an expanse of grass, and I'm planning how I'm going to turn it into vegetables and native plants in the spring ☺️

About gardening, be very careful! Colorado, as I’m sure you’re learning, is extremely volatile in weather. If you want to plant anything that will die at cold weather, you might have to wait until June…because it’s not unheard of to have a blizzard in May. There’s also hail storms in July typically. It’s not impossible by any means, but there are more challenges than most places!

Those plastic crates in the yard are what glass bottles milk came in . You have a great place lots of sunlight, and windows and a lovely yard . You can grow veggies in grow bags they sell on Amazon . Easy to move around yard, easy to plant in. Love that grow tower in the kitchen . They sell them for outdoors as well with more space for planting in towers .

Immy, this video is really sweet. I love your home and I love that you've gotten most things second hand with consideration of the environment and your sustainability values uppermost. Thank you for sharing your process with us! You are the best!

Make sure you put in a 'pond' for wildlife, even if it's just a large bucket/gardening tub filled with rain water. You can put stones in the bottom and you'd be amazed what comes. We get frogspawn an newts! X

It looks just perfect! What a blessing to be able to begin fresh and only curate the items you need and use. This is bliss!
