ADF desperate to ‘de-alpha’ its Special Forces

The Australia Defence Force is apparently desperate to “de-alpha” its special forces according to a review which is currently underway, says Sky News host Cory Bernardi.

It comes amid a special review – currently underway – which found that no woman has ever passed Australia’s elite SAS process.

“But top army officials say that’s about to change,” Mr Bernardi said.

“My personal view is that reducing the requirements to get in (to the Special Forces) would actually undermine operational capability.”

He spoke with former Special Forces Officer Bram Connolly about the topic.

“I think that there’s a requirement for us to think about the future of warfare and what that looks like,” Mr Connolly said.

“I’d go so far as to say that if we intend to be competitive and win wars, we need Special Forces that isn’t just strong, fit and agile, but also has a diversity to operate across the operations continuum.

“Any of our enemies in the future certainly will have that, so knowledge will be the weapon of the future.”

Utter BS. This veterans been self brainwashed. If women want to be in the SAS then they should form their own all women company and they can then lower the standards as much as they want. . Dont lower the mens standards please.

Funny thing, I was serving when they were closing the WRAAC training centre and sending them to Kapooka. They built a smaller, less challenging obstacle course and changed the way EVERYONE was treated and trained (to a lower standard). The Marines did training with all male, all female and mixed units. Won't be hard to guess who was the most effective. Stop pushing this crap. Most women don't want to be called up or fight on the front line. He is spruiking the "official" equality line and it's not reflected in reality. We spent weeks sleeping in mud and rain, the women were in covered trucks. The medic told me that he could treat 100 men but add 1 woman and he had to double his medical stores. There are BIOLOGICAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MEN AND WOMEN that office worker's in Canberra just don't get. Most women can't carry a full grown man AND his equipment out and previous experience has shown that the men are prone to taking greater risks to go to the aid of a woman, placing them in greater danger. A society can lose most of it's men and survive, if it loses the women it's finished. There is a REASON why they haven't been used in this way and I hope they never will. It's not about equality, it's about effectiveness and survival.

If any women want to and can pass the current standards then fine and well but changing the current standards to suit a gender doesn’t do anyone any favours!

Watering down the standards to accommodate those less physically able sounds like a great way to maintain the fearsome reputation and operational effectiveness of your most elite soldiers 🤷🏼‍♂️

There is a wrong way and a right way to approach any challenge! The greatest eye opener i had during my 10 years in the regular Army was a all corps promotion course in 1997 we slept showered and shat in the same lines males females SASR troopers, clerks, drivers and every other corps. The most glaring defect was senior instructors (all male) inability to act the same when a female was present or absent in any group they delivered double standards seemingly motivated by how females might view them personally. Massive challenge to deliver diversity especially if diversity is just a buzz word.

the whole point of an elite squad is having troops that are mentally and physically capable of taking on challenging rolls that would be extremely difficult for the other forces make them average and people will die make no mistake

They are special forces, most men can’t pass its based on ability . What is the point of doing this unless they can pass the test and are front line soldiers

I think they should have gay, trans and intersex people lead the SAS. They could call it LGBTISAS.

Betas & women don't win ground contact battles. SAS is not a collection of individuals; it's a unit, that functions as a unit. If you want discuss something; send a woman or a beta; but if you want to defeat or kill something ... send an Alpha.

I once saw a clip of an Israeli government hearing on why women were failing their army training. The General explained that, in order to reduce female injuries from 40% to the 2% suffered by males, the army had to reduce the females' load by less water bottles [ not good in the desert ] and reducing the number of spare full magazines that they had to carry. A pair of rabid feminists on the committee really exploded over this. They were almost incoherent. The Israeli army now has a battalion entirely of women, both officers and other ranks.

Women have attempted selection and were finally removed after their safety was put in jeopardy. They were able to pass too many gates because they had a front bum where as blokes were getting booted. It wasn't until patrols started to turn on these women because they were getting an unfair advantage, that they realised that maybe it wasn't a good idea to give women a free pass. If you are not physically and mentally capable of doing the job then you have no place being in said job. This is written by someone who was there and saw it all. Haters can hate but facts don't care about feelings.
