Here’s adding my congratulations and admiration for your authenticity - it really makes the lessons accessible and models the process for developing musicianship. Keep up the great work - you’re an excellent teacher! Thanks!

On point, thank you....I am obsessed with shakers, bells/jingles and maracas and yes it takes time to master them...They are very subtle instruments and can be used not only for regular grooves, but also for various improvised atmospheric/ambient effects...

Thank you ross!! This vedio encourages me a lot. I should be patient to repeat simple practice again and again like you and spend more time.

Ahhh! Not the shaker! I’ve been avoiding this weakness! Great vlog Ross!

This was very encouraging and confirms that we all have strengths and weaknesses. It's like when I discover a great groove independantly and think I've got it until I try and do it next time! I'm always working on different combinations of shakers, sticks and multi percussion with my cajon with bass pedal which I've had for maybe a couple of years and still needs a lot of working on. At least you're still young, Ross! I never had resources like YouTube and it probably takes me longer to learn stuff now too. Thanks for all your brilliant cajon tutorials.

Great share Ross - I've been adding in a tambourine pedal and having similar problems when switching from on to offbeat. So much potential, but without the basic skills it just goes so badly wrong trying to wing it live! :D

I know this is an old video, but cheers anyway! I'm buying some shakers for my next blues cover, I have no idea of timing/percussion etc...will be using them for a 12 bar blues... 😱

As musicians we all get comfortable with the tools we know how to use- it’s good to get out of our comfort zones and develop new tools

Great video Ross..every day brings a challenge.. always learning..even the greats 😁 shaker takes time..have you tried it with non dominant hand.. that helps massively..when you switch to dominant it will feel easier..😁😁

Hey man! Great playing! I just picked up the Meinl medium soft, I had been using egg shakers before. I’d like to create a soft swishing sound for worship ballads, I find the meinl shaker to be a bit of a challenge for this subtle sound. Any tips?
