Do you reckon we can hit 4,000 likes for the first Episode!?

That is right ladies and gents, the ball has dropped. Welcome to the first episode of Modded survival ever on my channel! For anyone panicking or getting scared, do not worry, vanilla content will remain the same. I just thought it was about time that I stuck my head into the Modded Minecraft scene to see what all the fuss was about. I have discovered it is actually quite fun :D

Agrarian Skies (created by JadedCat) can be found in the FTB launcher.

This series is going to be so interesting. No offense but Mumbo is like exactly opposite of DW20. He knows everything about vanilla and not much about mods.

1- New modded series, amazing! :D
2- You can use sapplings to get more dirt (and more cobble)
3- Don't put silkworms all the time, you won't get saplings from infested leaves
4- Please make it more frequently, once a week is a bit too slow!
5- This is a personal opinion, but it may look better without the texture pack :P

I come from the future. You have over subs and this video is lost in history. It's hermitcraft season 5 and you're building a base around a new yet not new then structure called the ocean monument to farm a creature that spawn there. Your future may be tough but you'll get through.

Loved the new editing style with the transitions, good work Mumbo :)

3 tips :)
1. Use crook to get more saplings.
2. Right click on full grown crop to save resource.
3. Crafting station will have access to chest beside and will keep items inside ;)

Yes!!! Finally, my favourite minecrafter playing one of the best modded minecrafts!! Thank you mumbo :D

A few tips -
Put saplings, leaves, seeds, any crops and/or rotten flesh in your barrel to make dirt
The more cobblestone you make, the faster you will progress, via sieving (break cobble with a hammer for gravel, sand and dust to sieve)
Trees. Plants quadrillions of trees
Autonomous activators and vacuum hoppers make sieving fast and automated
You can craft chicken spawn eggs, check the nei for recipe -very useful for food production with your automated chicken cooking/farming machine
Finally, blank patterns can be made with 4 sticks, instead of 2 stick/2 planks - treat wood like diamonds ATM, its very valuable early game

1. You're going to die of starvation. No two ways about it.

2. Stencils can be made with 4 sticks in a 2x2 pattern, which is more efficient with wood than what you did.

3. The barrel is there for a reason. A big reason. Throw compostable stuff in there (at this point, saplings and excess string are your friends), and you will get extra cobble. 8 saplings=1 dirt after a very short period of decomposition time, and I think it took 13 string but I don't remember.

4. Back on to hunger, stop jumping about so much. You're going to starve yourself faster than you can find food in the beginning that way. It comes from the hunger overhaul mod, totally changes how hunger works. Most things restore food less, and hunger drains faster if you don't eat bigger meals. Create a staircase to avoid jumping up to your house, and to get to the water pool on the hill there's actually a winding path around the stream that uses microblocks for stairs. There's another path behind the hill.

5. Regular seeds were probably a good bet. I don't think there a difference between the amount of bonemeal different plants take, but I'm not sure on that. Either way, bread is the better choice. You get 3 wheat from one grow wheat plant, and then you can cook that into toast for the best meal at this point in the game. You can also use a juicer on carrots I've read.

6. Don't worry about bonemeal usage. Skyblocks make it very easy to create a mob spawner, simply by making a room in darkness, as you can eliminate all other spawning spaces when you have torches. I did a 5x5 room and it was plenty of drops. Fighting drains a lot of hunger though, watch out.

7. Use flint or bone for early tools! :)

I'm glad to see you doing agrarian skies :). I can't wait for you to get into modded minecraft and Agrarian Skies can really help you learn about some amazing mods. I'm looking forward to seeing so much more. Quick note, putting 8 saplings in your barrel will give you dirt, and you may want to expand your farm because you are going to need lots of cobble in the beginning so you will need lots of dirt to get that. Also when sifting your dirt to get the cobble you have a chance of getting more kinds of seeds so if you are lucky you will get some of the carrots that will help you out.

ok mumbo, here is what you need to do. I know you got a ton of dirt from that dirtchest, but if you get 8 saplings (save 1 for growing later of course) and toss them into the oak barrel, then it will compost it and turn it into dirt. you can then sieve this dirt to make more cobble, hammer that dirt to get gravel, sand, and dust (make a hammer first). set a barrel up outside (preferably more) and wait for it to rain. then toss some dust in and it will give you clay. you can then combine that clay with bonemeal to create a material whose nomenclature has slipped my mind, and from that you can make a clay bucket and un unfired crucible. also, don't make a normal furnace, make 8 cobble slabs and make the furnace shape out of those. once you have the furnace and the bucket and the crucible, you can cook them. then start using some of your hardened clay to create the outline for a cobble generator and put in the water. put a torch down and the crucible on top of it and fill it full of cobble, this will create lava. DO NOT PICK UP THE LAVA UNTIL YOU HAVE PUT DOWN THE WATER. doing so will destroy the bucket. then you can use your cobble generator to get cobble, gravel, sand, and dust, and you can run the latter 3 of these through the sieve to get metals and other materials. now you are on your way. sorry for writing a book on how to agrarian skies, but it might be useful. I am at the point of automating most of these processes in my world.

Literally just recently finished watching through Genny's Agrarian Skies. It'll be interesting to see what you do and how you go about doing all of the quests! Good luck!

Also nice title/ending slate updates!

I will love this series, and I think terrafirmacraft or ftb monster later would suit

Really great idea for a series Mumbo! I love your channel and this is a great addition

I HIGHLY recommend NOT playing this map until you have played a bit with the mods in a regular world. This is pretty complicated and requires a lot of experience.

Personally I think this is a perfect starting point for the mod portion of you channel and I'll gladly watch and if you ever get confused watch GenerikB's playthrough because its the best ive seen so far

what happened to my favourite vanilla YouTube?

to get dirt, you can "ferment" saplings and stuff like that in the oak barrel.
After a few minutes, it will become dirt!

Mumbo, a couple of tips from someone who has completed Agrarian Skies:
- Shift-right-click the pan while looking at the ground to place it down. It can cook up to seven items at a time (uses less fuel). Always leave 1 spot open when using the pan or it won't cook
- To get dirt, place down your barrel and right-click it with saplings. Once it's full, it will compost into dirt. You can also compost almost any plant (cactus farms anyone?). Once you have iron, a great way to get dirt is to use shears to harvest tree leaves and compost those.
- As with all skyblock maps, carry as little as possible! Falling while carrying your diamond pick really sucks!
- All of the vanilla tools are disabled. It's worth reading up on Tinker's Construct, as that's the primary "tool" mod for this mod pack.
- The hunger mod that they're using takes some getting used to, but basically each step when crafting food adds 1/2 a hunger hock restored. So things like apples are terrible, while things like supreme pizza are amazing.
- Build a watering can ASAP. You will see two recipes, and you want to use the one that requires bonemeal (the other one is disabled unless you're in peaceful mode). Right click it on water to fill it, then hold right-click while looking at crops/saplings. It's essentially slower, but unlimited, bonemeal.
