How to fix a DS lite Microphone (very easy trick)

First of all: This doesn't really 'fix' the microphone, but it is an easy fix to use the microphone function in games where you only need to blow or stuff like that.

All you need is a tiny bit of aluminium foil. Make a little ball out of it and put it in headset input. When the foil hits the contact, the ds will recognize this as a blow in the microphone. Just put it in a way that it sticks in the hole, but only connects when your press/wiggle it.

In the video you can see the mic test from Pokemon White, if you have that game you can test this trick in the menu but it works in other games as well.

You push on the aliminium foil, maybe you'll have to wriggle a bit. Just try a few times to make a little piece of aluminium which fits nicely in the headset input, and it should work pretty well.

Hi everyone! I have a litte advice for you. Before you try the trick with aluminium foil, first you could try inserting your stylus in the headset port a few times. That did the trick for me! Maybe the contact pins in the port where bent or something i don't know but my microphone started working again :)

Simple fix. On the font edge of the machine next to the headphone jack is the mic jack. For use with an external mic. Inside the jack there are two metal pins. They can become stuck in the "up" position. You simply need to bend the pins back down slightly. I used a sewing needle - being careful not to break the pins. Worked like a charm. All blowing games and voice commands now work again

My mic wasn't working at all on my DS lite. I saw this video and before I tried it, I just got an idea to just gently stick my stylus where aluminium should go. (I have no idea what was I trying to accomplish). And it worked :D My mic is now working somehow. So just also try gently sticking your stylus where aluminium should go and maybe that also fixes your problem. Thanks simpelwegjasper for creating this video.

I tried bending the pins down that didnt work, the foil thing however worked immediately. Thank goodness i was stuck in a part of the game that required the mic and no matter what i did it would not let me complete it. Thanks for this tip.

It works for short blows or sounds. The thing is I’m playing zelda Phantom Hourglass and at some point I need to strongly blow to activate some stuff. And it doesn’t work. :(
