If you use Python, you should try Julia.

Julia was built specifically for mathematical computing purposes, and since it is (kind of) compiled, it’s BLAZINGLY fast and close to C in performance, so much faster than Python. It’s still new so there isn’t as big of a community around it, but it is really enjoyable to work with, once you get past the fact that indexing starts at 1. A really cool bonus is that you can define variables with $LaTeX$, and it’ll recognize them really well. You’re also able to call Python and C libraries if you wish to do so.
