No, you were told what would happen. You CHOOSED to not listen and call it "project fear". Deniing you were told at the time is just another way to not take responsability.

Let me translate his words "it wasn't supposed to hurt me, it was supposed to hurt the 'others' i don't like"

Um, maybe don't believe everything they tell you? It's incumbent on a voter, particularly in a referendum, to KNOW what they are voting for.

No sympathy for any of them who voted for leaving the EU

It was explained to him many times over, but not by the people he deemed worthy of listening to

Why did you believe all the lies when the truth was there for anyone not too lazy to find the facts?

He didn't want immigrants in the UK, but he wanted to be an immigrant in Spain. LOL

“Nobody explained this.” Only till we were blue in the face! And we were told we were just sheeple for it.

Yes you were told but you cried project fear & we know what we voted for, I’m overjoyed that you have got exactly what you were told you had voted for !

He was happy in Spain with his freedom of movement and now does not have that freedom, which has been denied to many British who wanted to work and study in Europe

Finally it’s starting to hit home for these people who thought it was a good idea to leave the EU

Note, you're gonna get England back. England ! But the question is where did he think England had gone?

I'm an Indian. There were editorials and discussion on what Brexit was. And as a high school senior i used to think...Britain is crazy for wanting Brexit. They literally are paying for their demise. Everyone I knew who was interested in international affairs also had similar sentiments and we were all waiting with popcorn 🍿😅
Too bad people in Britain were like frogs in well

Get England back...
So he voted because there's too many foreigners in England, whilst himself being a foreign in another country.
Ironic....

On the evening that the referendum vote result was announced, I knew I was leaving plague island for good. Having the time to jump through the many hoops to gain lawful residency before a thick knuckle dragging 'electorate' could destroy my chances of a civilized life in Europe I made it out. Thankfully the Spanish policeman who after a long grilling stamped my application for legal residency 'approved' and after a long interview in Spanish, offered his hand and said welcome to Gran Canaria. Now live in a small house in a small town with the locals, learn the language, pay all your taxes, integrate and forget the misery.

You were told. You refused to listen. You got what you wanted. You won, get over it.

So, here we have a pensioner who, prior to Brexit was living most of the time in the EU (likely Spain), voted to leave the EU, and only later discovered that he could not stay in the EU for more than 90 days at a time.
Does it get more mental than this?

I'm not even British nor do i know anything about EU politics nor did i pay any indepth attention to the discussions around Brexit. But even I could have told you this was not going to be easy and was a bad idea in so many ways. I remember just shaking my head in 2016 in disbelief.
