Last phone: G4+ used for 10 months. Using androids since 2011.
Coming straight to the first very imp thing: If you have G4 Plus, and thinking of upgrading for the sake of camera, I would strongly recommend to avoid this and use your G4+ for another year.
The camera on the G5 plus is one of the best for taking photos in low light as compared to most of the phones out there, probably the best after One plus3T, however on a thorough comparison between Moto G5+ and G4+ in over 50 photos in all conditions,
( - ) Macro shots by G4+ are better than G5+
( - ) Colours in G4+ are better than G5+
( - ) Front camera of G4+ is better than G5+ (By this I don’t mean G5+ is bad, but that G4+ is tad bit better)
( + ) Overall sharpness throughout the photos are better in G5+
Bokeh effect is exactly the same in both.
( + ) G5+ has 4K video in which the phone DOES NOT HEAT up much (but 4k is a useless gimmick being sold to the customers by all manufactures, the only difference you'd notice is in the video size which is 310 MB for 1 min of video with absolutely not much difference in video quality as compared to 1080p unless you have a 4k display too, moreover the image stabilization is turned off in 4k videos, it only remains active upto 1080p)
( - ) OVERALL, THE PHOTOS BY G4+ LOOK MORE LIVELY AND VIBRANT IN DAY SHOTS even though G5+ produces sharper photos but colours feel washed out as compared to G4+.
( + ) G5+ wins hands down in night shots, thanks to the f1.7 aperture.

Other areas where G5+ excels -
Better battery performance As Compared To G4+ even though same 3000 mah battery
No heating As Compared To G4+
Obviously faster and more fluidic than G4+
Build quality is pretty solid. Feels like a premium phone.
Rear Camera lens is good quality glass (unlike G4+)
Flash is brighter
AUDIO IS BETTER through earphones in G5+ As Compared To G4+ (Tested using Sony in-ear earphones)
Charging time is same for both 1hr45 mins.
Things which could have been better:
Screen is too reflective (more than G4+)
No USB- Type C
No 64Gb storage option.

So ultimately, phone is the best under 20k as of now (Moreover I STRONGLY RECOMMEND STOCK ANDROID over themed OS of xiaomi, lenovo, crapsung) but if you have G4+, dont make camera the reason to upgrade, you'd be disappointed.

I have moto g4 plus and g5 plus. now eagerly waiting for g6 plus.

G4+ user here and I have never had heating issues / slow running speed / performance. Runs smooth all the time. Only downside I noticed that my camera glass got scratched very easily. (wife got same device but in white with no camera glass problem) So i had to replace the glass on camera. Camera quality is nice but speed is not that good. It takes time to make a photo and if you take photos of people it is usually blurry. (in good light conditions it is fine)

This is what I feel. A pure stock Android with 3000mah will last well but once you install apps like FB, WhatsApp flipkart etc which runs in background and consumes a lot of power I think 3000mah might turn out to be insufficient. As this is a pure stock Android we don't even have option to restrict the background activties. Lenovo should have given a 3500 or 4000mah. what do you guys think?

I totally agree. having a g4 plus with me. heating starts whenever you open camera.i wish the battery atleast lasts for a day. it's draining too fast. only thing I'm impressed with is the camera. soon looking for an upgrade

What about call quality? I don't really care about the speakerphone, just the regular receiver. Comparing the G4 Plus to the G5 Plus -- how well can you hear the caller and vice versa - in both a quiet room, as well as in a crowd of people or with background noise? I realize that this also depends on other variables, but this is the most important issue to me.

What version of the Moto G4 plus are you using in the video? I currently have the 64g + 4g ram version and my runs beautiful besides the slight overheating during long uses with the video camera. I'm not going to lie it does heat up slightly during gaming but its never sluggish and laggy like the 4plus your using in this video. I play GTA San Andreas all the time and never once have had a problem.
