another tip: if you dig a 1x1 hole in the ground, place a torch in it and put a moss carpet on it, you won't see the torch and there will still always be light

Fun fact: "sensors" like these exist irl if u can even call it a sensor because its real name is LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) which changes its resistance based on the light it recieves, and with some complicated circuitry that you can find tutorials for on youtube, you can create your on Night Light which is pretty cool!!
