Slide rooms can be kind of scary for many new RVers! Luckily, Keystone RV Center has you covered. In this short video, we will go over how to maintain the two main types of slides in the industry (rack & pinion and Schwintek), as well as the many Dos & Don'ts of using your slide out room!

Love your videos. Simple, straight forward, not too lengthy, not trying to sell me something.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the informative videos. My husband & I purchased an older Jayco 5th Wheel as total newbies to camping & he sat & studied YouTube videos at night while rehabbing the camper for 6 months. Eight days before our Maiden Voyage he was killed at work in a construction accident. 😢 I am now trying to learn & do all of this pretty much on my own, but it is a lot & it is hard for just one woman. I will use it myself sometimes, but plan to try to rent it out as a source of income. Your maintenance videos are a huge help to me. Thanks again.

This video just saved me $260 on a set of 4 slide jacks, I never had them on any of my other trailers and didn't know why I thought I needed them now. Glad I watched this video before hitting check out on amazon. They were actually a great price too.

Thanks so much for the tips, especially about not falling for jacking up the slides when they are out.

Here is my tip... Learn to do your own RV maintenance and use a good car maintenance management program ( I use Automotive Wolf car care software ) to track and monitor it all. It also tracks all my parts, expenses and creates a detailed vehicle maintenance log. After RV'ing for over 10 years I've saved thousands by doing most of the maintenance myself and there is a lot of it on an RV! A small roof leak can cost you thousands in repairs so I check my roof at least twice a year. Keep on top of the maintenance and you'll save money and be RV'ing for years :)

Just wanted to say that the CRC products are very good. If you have a specific chemical need for your maintenance program, such as the slide lubricant, or battery terminal protectant, or dielectric grease, CRC makes good quality products.

Thank you! Please keep up the thorough and information packed videos. Thanks for your efforts to educate both the public and yourselves regarding proper care and maintenance, please continue. Please thoroughly explain all the advantages and disadvantages to each and every different slide out system. It would be very helpful if you discussed the cable slide system also. Thanks again, and thank you for not playing any Musik! God Bless you and happy, safe RVing to everyone 👍🌷💖

Also, if a Swintek style...ensure you HOLD the button at LEAST 5 seconds after it's fully out or in. The motors must "synch" again. If you just let go right when it stops moving they could stop at slightly different positions and bind the slide the next time you go to open or close it. Some with your power awning...won't hurt anything at all.

The Schwintek gears need to be lubricated too (not the track, as you pointed out). You use that same CRC Power Lube with PTFE, you bend the straw nozzle into a U-shape then spray the gears (top and bottom) on each side. Lippert (maker of Schwintek) has a video called "In-Wall Slide-Out System - Mechanical Lubrication" ... search for it here on YouTube.

On the Schwintek Lippert recomends lubing with CRC Power Lube with PTFE in the green can (industrial). I had a slideout that would not fully retract even after resyncing. I lubbed 7 of the 8 bearing stations (one is difficult to get at) and now it slideouts perfectly.

Purely by accident, I came across your page!!! Super glad I did too. Gonna subscribe and receive every video. You are awesome with teaching, showing what to use and telling what not to use. Thank you very much.

I was always getting nervous when I hear that clicking noise thought maybe it was stripping the gears. Good to know I’m not damaging it according to what your saying about how you want to hear that clicking sound. Thanks.
