Cook Islands descendants, Royal New Zealand Navy sailors Thomas Katu and his three crew mates on HMNZS Wellington, wanted to give back to the Cook Islands people and pay their respects to the war veterans who went before them. Joining forces with locals on Rarotonga, they arranged for the Ship’s crew to help out at the local RSA. Hear from Petty Officer Seamanship Combat Specialist Thomas Katu for the full run down of activities during the Ship’s logistics stop.

HMNZS Wellington and the crew are due back home to Aotearoa New Zealand in early August after successfully delivering Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines to Tokelau and Palmerston in the Northern Cook Islands.

Can't help but feel proud of our men and women in the services. Mad respect.
