I have a lil headcannon that once Odysseus’ suit murder spree started, Penelope was just chilling in her room waiting for him to finish. Like she was there the whole time, heard all of it, and like the classy lady she is, waited for him to come to her.
I don’t think for a minute Penelope would be upset that he killed them. Mostly because these men have harassed her and her son for years, but also because Penelope is smart enough to realize this is the only way to ensure her family is truly safe.
I sort of love the idea that for Odysseus, this is his downfall. But for Penelope, I think she sort of just…. Expected him to have to commit war crimes? Like he has all this grief over if she’ll accept him, but she’s a smart woman, she’s from Sparta, she understands that war carries the weight of violence. It was never going to be a deal breaker for her, and that’s sort of lovely.
