The whole song is actually a lot sadder when you think about the fact that Penelope is actually supposed to be at the end of those 12 axes. " I'd rather die then grow old without the best of you" is a reference that she'd rather die without her husband.

3:01 Holy hell. Actually showing Odysseus in the background of this song is genius. Seeing him cry while he's around the corner listening to Penelope actually made me cry. He was so close, but he had to stick to his plan. I can't even imagine how badly he would've wanted to just drop everything and run to her right then. Oof, my heart.

my favourite things about this amazing animatic:
-Penelope da queen ofc - love your character sketches so much
-Antinous' smug face when Penelope's announcing the challenge as if he was gonna win it
-the scene where she imagines young Odysseus rushing to hold her in his arms and comfort her and Odysseus is on the other side of the wall, wishing he could reach her
-she has such a strong resolve holding her head up high when shes facing the suitors and rebuffing that Asshole but then immediately breaking down in front of the family portrait

Couple little details I love in this.

1. I like that it starts at Penelope unthreading the shroud by candle light, as that's what's specifically explained in the Odyssey.
2. That Antinous is wearing wolf fur. Like in total mockery of Telemachus (calling him "Little Wolf") as well as mocking their strong family dynamic, which is what wolves tend to represent, and twisting the symbolism into something more "alpha" and ravenous.

Even without these details I think this is my favorite animatic for this song. Beautifully done!

Absolutely gorgeous Britt. I adore how you had her brush away Antinous as unworthy and her anger of his smugness coming through. And Odysseus hearing his wife doing everything in her power to buy him time as she waits. Him shedding tears knowing he can't reveal himself yet... My heart hurts. Incredible.

This made me cry in a way the song by itself never did. Penelope's agony of patience and Odysseus' remorse were portrayed beautifully. I wonder how he felt knowing she'd been trying all these years to keep him close in her heart, and in his son's.

My favorite song from the Ithaca Saga!!! Penelope has to be my favorite character in the Odyssey aside from Odysseus himself and Athena. The way she presents the challenge of stringing Odysseus’s old bow and shooting an arrow through twelve ax heads with the look of pure CONFIDENCE in her eyes that none of the suitors can do it (only Odysseus can) just goes to show that women in Greek mythology can be significant to their myth in their own kickass and special way… I loved watching ALL your animations for Epic!

This just bought a whole new level of emotions to this song. Having Odysseus so close and yet not there and there for her at the same time hurts my heart. This animatic is so awesome ❤

This was beautifully done. I loved how you portrayed Antinous's antagonistic behavior toward Penelope and her defiance toward the suitors no matter what. Great job on this!
