Welcome to the Spotlight Podcast! In this episode, we are excited to introduce our new guests, Priya Swyden and Nick Kalams, who are both pursuing post-graduate degrees in International Studies at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) Europe, located in Bologna, Italy.

Priya and Nick have different backgrounds that led them to SAIS Europe, with Nick enrolled in the two-year Master of Arts in International Relations (MAIR) program and Priya in the one-year Master of Arts in European Public Policy (MEPP). Despite their different programs, they are both passionate about getting the most out of their experiences in Europe and at SAIS.

In this episode, Priya and Nick take us on a journey to Sarajevo, where they went on their annual study trip organized by Nick this year. They share their experiences meeting with organizations such as the US Embassy, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and the UN Development Programme. The study trip provided them with a unique opportunity to learn about the post-conflict reconstruction of Bosnia and Herzegovina following The Bosnian War.

Priya and Nick also discuss their experiences studying at SAIS Europe, a program that takes place in a foreign country with diverse and like-minded students from around the world. They offer advice to young people considering studying outside of their home country and share the rewarding opportunities that studying abroad can provide.
