I'm in the middle of a personal project rigging a 2D character, but so ready to move on to doing 3D rigging with a quadruped character next. Looking forward to seeing what you cover in this to act as a great jumpstart!

This video is so useful! So many things i just learned today in this 20 min video. Maybe not for pure beginners but it's enough for me. Your presentation is also nice and quick, love that.

Rigging in Blender is so convoluted. I love it for everything else, but dang. When applying a weight of 1 to anything, it should automatically remove the other influences. If its weight is 1, there should be nothing else contributing to 1. And having bone collections, and sample groups, and all these other weird little things. I'm following along fine, my character is looking good but it's a pain. Also, I checked the other bones in the rig and they don't have deform selected but they still deform. Instead, I just selected all objects in my character and then the rig last before parenting and that did the trick (although I'm sure you did it this way to show how to add influences later). Another thing, it wasn't covered here but if you extrude or add more bones to a joint chain like the arm for example, it breaks the rigify process. After digging around, I learned that you have to go into object mode, and then pose mode, and then select the bone that way (not in edit mode) and then change the rigify type to "basic.super_copy." I hope they find a way to combine the pose mode and edit mode for armatures/bones because that also feels unnecessary coming from Maya.

I just started working on modeling this little guy from the original video. I guess I only have 39 hours left to finish it.

very cool tutorial, I have to test it out, I think I learned a lot but I always struggle with rigging and with rigify, normally what I do is because of my needs is I delete a bone or a group of bones, the rig does not generate and stops working, can somebody help me? I normally what I want to delete is facial bones or maybe one finger

Can you do more videos regarding your style of lighting?

Hello! Thank you for the video!
Question: How can I transfer the information of the animation into the bones? I need to bake the animation directly into the skeleton (not the mesh) so I can import it inside a Videogame Engine.
Hopefully you can see my question. Thank you! <3

Hey I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how to rig slime charecters. I have been having trouble finding a tutorial on how to do it since the search results on youtube are all coming up with (how to use cloth fisics and how modle a slime). if you could that would make a slime rigging turtorial that would be greatly appericeated.

Question... since I am rigging for a videogame. Instead of deleting the first rig. Can I parent the first rig into the mesh, and parent the controls into the bones?

For some reason the "in front" option doesn't work on part of my models in Solid mode?

In your first step, Blender 4.3 doesn't have the submenu "samples" in data.
