You need to enable a billing account to access any Google Services (But you won't be charged for the first one year).

Even though you set up a billing account, you won't be charged unless you upgrade to a paid account.

The GCP (Google Cloud Platform) Free Tier has two parts:
- A 12-month free trial with $300 credit to use with any GCP services.
- Always Free, which provides limited access to many common GCP resources, free of charge.

The free trial ends when you use all of your credit, or after 12 months, whichever happens first. At that time:
- You must upgrade to a paid account to continue using GCP.
- All the resources you created during the trial are stopped.
- Any data you have stored in Compute Engine is lost.
- Your account enters a 30-day grace period, during which you can recover resources and data you used during the trial period.
- You might receive a message stating that your account has been canceled, which only indicates that your account has been suspended to prevent charges.

- GCP services charge you only for the resources you use. Each service has its own pricing model, which you can find in the documentation for individual services.

Also, Note
When you enable billing, you get $200 free usage every month for Maps, Routes, or Places. The credit does not apply to our gaming, ridesharing, or asset tracking industry solutions.
In addition to the $200 monthly free credit, all users get:
- Free Maps usage for Embed (for displaying maps only)
- Free Maps URLs

$200 USD Google Maps Platform credit per API is available each month and is automatically applied to the qualifying SKUs. This credit is prorated based on $200 divided by 30 days (e.g. $200/30 = $6.67 per day) and it resets each day for each API.
E.g. The Geocoding API costs $5.00 per 1,000 calls or $0.005 per call. Over a span of 30 days, the daily usage credit for the Geocoding API is $6.67 per day. This means that you would be able to make 1,334 calls to the Geocoding API per day for free.

GCP customers can apply their $300 new account credit towards Google Maps Platform. The $300 credit is only used when you exceed free usage limits. Credit expires in 12 months
