I really thought the 'mistake' was gonna be playing like a robot with no body movement at all 🤣

The only genuine beginners explanations I understand. Been a beginner now for about 30 years

No problem at all, it was just in 5/4. A little bit of surprising meter change :)

As a seasoned drummer I still find all these little tips and tricks so helpful and laid out like we're all 1st graders is honestly amazing.
Love the content it's helped me a ton

"Counting it as SEPARATE ENTITY!" Had me in stitches. I rewound. Also, great use of the word "Betwixt"😂

I don't know how naturally playing the drums comes to you but you are without doubt a natural born teacher 😀

Yess I’m a beginner and still have this problem where I don’t finish and start on the downbeat after the fill

Ohhh yea. Our drummer often adds extra beats to the ends of his fills and we've just had to learn to live with it and adapt to it. We already know to wait for roughly one extra beat at the beginning of Strasbourg-St. Denis and listen very carefully to when he actually plays the one. We've got a concert tonight...

I've had many new, younger students do this, and I just started doing this with them recently. Massive help.

You are a fantastic teacher, really. You break it down very simply for the lay person

You are a good teacher. I’ve only seen a few videos so far in all you say betwixt. I’m going to watch more. I hope betwixt is your catch phrase.

I really love the approach you have to this. Must've been an awkward few first videos before your awesome energy settled into your viewership.

Thank you!

I'm not sure I'm ready to start learning drums yet, but I'm getting really invested in learning the theory behind patterns, timings and fills, thanks!

hey! would you happen to have any tutorials for a drummer who has previous music experience (with coordination and music knowledge etc, I played bass and a lil guitar before I started), so it's not necessarily absolute newbie beginner stuff but it's still not intermediate either?
