Dr. Rich Hilsden, a trauma surgeon, demonstrates the most basic suturing technique. The simple interrupted stitch.

Let me know what other surgical techniques you would like to learn.

The stitch I am using is a 3-0 vicryl on an SH needle. The suturing pad is a standard suturing practice pad made of silicone and is affordably available on Amazon.

I like that there’s no music, only calm quiet, it gets my mind to be quiet somehow

Not gonna use this for wounds, but given that I need to use a needle and thread to fix a book tomorrow you bet that I'm going to use this advice to make a stable stitch. Thank you for a tutorial that's easy to follow!

I knew I made the right decision NOT going to medical school years ago, but finding new reasons that strengthen my decision always makes my day. 😊
Lovely video, but I could never. I probably would have botched someone.

Couple mistakes:
1. Avoid grabbing the needle (especially near the tip) with the Adson forcep
2. The second bite was taken without sufficient eversion (look at the angle the suture material makes with the skin)
3. Never place the knot flush over the incision.

Thank you for making a video without music and only natural sounds and voice. I miss those good old days.
