The simple continuous stitch (AKA baseball stitch) #doctor #surgery #sutruing #stitches #medicine

The simple interrupted stitch is highly underrated in medicine.

It is great for longer wounds. It's faster than doing multiple simple interrupted stitches but in my opinion, the greatest advantage comes from how much easier it is on the patient when the stitches are removed.

This is especially useful in the scalp or when you are dealing with children.

I'll make sure to remember this one the next time my siblings get a bit too annoying. Might save us a trip to the emergency room ;)

I have done this to myself when I accidentally ripped a piece of wood out of my leg!

The doctor said in a fucking idiot for removing the stick but the stitches were quite well made 😅

Can you show more of how you start the first knots and your end knots? I'm really curious about how you do it !

Would it be possible when you do these videos on types of stitches could you include typical circumstances/types of wounds etc when this particular Stitch would be optimal?

Please make a video with a lil more close up and a bit slower so that it's easier to understand 😅

Why do you use a surgeon's throw as your first? its unnecessary and prevents you from using your second throw to set the tightness. Throw 1 place, throw 2 set, throw 3 lock, then 2 to 5 more throws depending on suture size and/or type. Skin sutures are meant to be appositional and not to have tension (except for specific tension relieving sutures) so no surgeon's throw should be required to appose your margins.

Dr. Hilsden, could you please tell whomever is videoing you to please stay on your hands from beginning to the end of the training, even if just cutting tails. You're a handsome fella but I see no need to have the video on your face and upper body when doing throws. I want to see every little thing you do. I am left-handed & need to watch you in detail. Thank you for these videos. They are so very helpful.

I already knew it because I got it on my forehead and I was awake all the time. The doctor simply told me I promise it's not going to hurt and I'll tell you before it starts hurting so you can prepare .
