Excellent video. When forced into a fight, my first rule is there are no rules. That applies to me and my opponent. My second rule is to keep your head on a swivel. The guy may have friends with him that you don't see and who are ready to jump in. Again, there are no rules.

My 1974 gunfight w/three armed robbery suspects happened so fast all I had time to do was take cover behind my cruiser & shoot back. When it was over one suspect was dead, one gave up & was arrested at the scene, a third was arrested the following day seeking treatment for a GSW, and one officer was hospitalized w/a gunshot wound (he recovered). It was over almost as fast as it started and I initially couldn’t believe it really happened.

In my mind, there are only 2 options...de-escalation and escalation. When the first fails, flip the switch on! Escalation requires 110% commitment, and I always "see" myself winning, even if I'm not. Mindset is critical. Our brains work in amazing ways, even in violent situations. I like your advise...it's all sound.

The most underrated point that most people forget or dont fully understand.

You dont play fair in any fight.

I'm a retired Correctional Officer Sr and have been involved in over 200 physical altercations. Some of the altercations were minor and some I, have had injuries and surgeries from. You are spot on brother, one thing I would also add in is being present, our mental energy output effects the way we are perceived. It effects our stance, the way we carry ourselves and our preparedness. I would encourage anyone to take an MMA conditioning course and learn how you react when hit in the head. I can go on but you get my point. Keep doing what you are doing it's a great service to the American people.

I love how you simplify the most complex situations a human being can find himself or herself in. I used to play tournament chess and what I think I learned and practiced is that you must always look ahead regardless if your last move was a mistake or a blunder. You cannot go back and replay a move so don't waste time thinking about it. It is always from this move forward that counts.

Several things taught to me over the years in martial arts, from those who won fights, not just those with theories. One, don’t panic, you panic, you lose. Two don’t doubt yourself, or your ability. Three be able to do whatever you must to win the fight. Most will think about landing a good punch or pushing back if pushed. No, be prepared to inflict serious, painful and disfiguring strikes. Not going to go through the entire tool box, but prepared to use a palm strike under the chin that will break a jaw and possibly injure the neck., be prepared to use a knife hand to the throat or bridge of nose as well as a hammer fist that will not break but splatter a nose. If needed, a properly executed groin kick, bone of your foot compressing testicles against pelvis. They will be missed by the owner. Last, there is no second place winner in a fight you must win

Strike hard, strike fast & without warning. That's what my late dad taught me as he was in the Marine Corps for 22 years.

Great suggestions!!
Here is my list.
1. Avoid - the danger zone
2. Tool - find a force multiplier
3. Win - make’m regret it

My old dad was aa WWII veteran and 33 year Chicago policeman. He taught me always, always try to avoid a fight, but if you are cornered and force to fight, then unlive the person. True advice.

1) Accept pain is just part of the game.
2) Make up your mind on what needs to happen and DO IT.
3) Being cheap ain't weak.
If anyone is struggling with #2, I got you covered. You want to watch your wife grow old and your kids grow up. Get your ass back to them

Your greatest tool/weapon is your mind! This man is correct; only fight if you have too and then become a beast. It is a sad truth that savagery wins more often than not. And keep in mind, as things fall apart the opportunity for you to deal with a true warrior drops. Focus on this one thought... fight to live one more day.

Absolutely right! Breathe, if there's time. Weigh the options, remain stoic mentally and vigilant physically... the steady hand wins. Not the quickest on the trigger. Shot placement is key also aim small.

Thank you! I’m 70 now, and I always appreciate your wisdom…I was also taught that when we realize we’re tense & not breathing…to relax the pelvic floor…just notice yourself anytime your feeling tense or there’s a control issue going on & being aware of that tenseness…just relax your pelvic floor.

Here's an expression that might apply here, "I'd rather be judged by 12, than carried by 6." or something like that.

Great advice! One of the reason I really love this channel is that it talks about what really happens and real ways to deal with things.
