If we measure intelligence only in relation to our own, we neglect the vast possibility of other ways intelligence can manifest. We always want to teach animals OUR language, discounting the subtleties of their OWN communications. It is clear they have communication, both among themselves, and with humans as well as other marine species, they may have an entirely empathic form of communicating as well. I'm old now, but when I was younger, Dolphins captured my curiosity because they always look like they are smiling. Happy faces was a positive experience for me. Maybe it's one of the reasons why I still admire them.

You've probably seem the mirror test, put a mirror in front of animals to see reactions, they usually fight their reflections, only the dolphin was self aware, you could see the dolphin posing, being self aware of their reflection shows intelligence.

They must be smarter than a fish because you´ll never catch a Dolphin when fishing with a rod and a lure in contrast to fish that takes the bait over and over again. This is of course only one example.

Communication facilitates cooperation so strategies can be implemented…if successful enough, the strategies can then be ‘handed down’ through the generations…if this is not intelligence, then nothing is ‘smart’

We've also done tests with dolphins. Go to Maryland. I say they're pretty intelligent.

Dolphin consciousness is completely different from humans. I have spent many years swimming with wild dolphins and their brains have nothing to do with how ‘intelligent’ they are.

Brains a far too complex and we have very little knowledge on how they precisely work to judge intelligence on brain size and structure, there are people alive missing large portions and even the entire left or right hemisphere of their brain with only minor deficiencies considering their condition, fully functioning members of society with jobs and families of their own, explain this mystery before studying dolphin intelligence based on brain size and structure

So the argument against was a scientist saying he studied their brain structure and it turns out they dont have what it takes, and the argument pro was basically "i love swimming with dolphins when they look into your eyes you can see they are very intelligent trust me".
