Smart Homes NEED To Change...

Smart homes. They're messed up. It's time we talk about it and do something about it. I'm tired of companies marketing their way out of bad products and worse decisions, and I'm tired of the same damn problems hitting our homes and lives over and over again.

This should be simple, and these problems should be fixed. We're changing the channel starting today, and we hope you're onboard for a little more reality and a little less happy-go-lucky.

Amen brother! In the past week, I have had an expensive smart lamp die, my Ember mug burn out, an Alexa speaker blow, and it took me 7 hours to figure out how to do a hard reset of my “smart” Christmas Tree! And don’t get my going on my smart microwave and robot vacuum i need to reset every week! There is so much wrong with this industry. Look forward to the new series. I may do some smart home / dumb home videos too. Thanks for keeping it real!

I just started learning about smart home stuff a few months ago. I only really started looking because I am legally blind and needed a light bulb that could be a blueish hue but not so bright that it causes glare. Best $50s I have ever spent. No regrets. That did cause me to come down the smart home rabbit hole though. It has left me with a lot of questions. Mostly of my questions are oriented to how it would work for the disabled though.

Great video and insight, Brian. I think you're on the right track. You know the folks who have followed your channel will continue to follow it and the channel could be even more important as time goes along. I love the thoughts about discussing automation ideas. I think we're all a little weary of things like using a motion sensor to turn on a light...how long have we been doing that??? We also already have a lot of solutions in search of a problem. I hope we'll look at more examples of possible solutions to a given problem or problem category. I'm looking forward to the changes, Brian. Let's all "Live Smart"...

My biggest gripe is that I buy a product that advertises a certain feature and at first everything is great but then later these features that were previously included are moved to behind a paywall and then those prices creep up

i felt in a similar way as well and that's why I am always very cautious of what products I recommend in my own channel. Viewers don't know what happened behind the scenes where we return products and push-back sponsors.
