This video gives you longer-term review updates on several Lippert RV products I have installed and tested out over the last three months of traveling. We have towed the Cougar fifth-wheel trailer over 2000 miles and visited 20 different campsites in that time. From the rainy fall weather conditions of BC, Washington, and Oregon all the way down to sunny California.

Now, I'm back to let you know how these items have performed for us. Overall, we are pretty happy with the upgrades over the OEM, but a few annoyances have cropped up.

My rig came with Mor-ryde steps. I think they’re a great upgrade from the old “bounce house” steps. The adjustment of the legs is a click stop arrangement and is far superior to the Lippert steps. As far as dirt getting in trailer I simply vacuum it up with our little dust buster. Issues with sloping ground, etc. have happened so infrequently it’s not worth getting upset versus the bouncing from old type. Besides I carry about 8 pieces of 2x6 wood blocks that I could put under the legs if it were that big of a deal.

I have the Moryde solid steps. Biggest issue is door clearance. 5th wheel came with 4 steps and bottom step is pretty level with ground. Sometimes at a rest stop even with the stabilizers all the way up the steps raise up just enough so the door drags. And at some campsites I have had to dig out the dirt a little to lower the steps. Have considered that I may have to cut off the bottom step to solve the problem. Other than that, as you said, they are so solid and nice to use.

Have a question on the solid steps that you have. How many inches between steps. I have heard 6in apart and some say 8in apart. Want to get a set for my cougar. Wife uses crutches to get around and distance between steps can cause a problem.

I've had my Solid Steps for about 3 months now. They immediately started squeaking as you walk up and down the steps. I tightened all of the bolts that hold the steps in place and that lasted about two days. I'm going to try blue Loctite on the bolts to see if that keeps them from backing off and allowing the steps to squeak against the side rails. Does anyone else have noise issues?

Hi Ray I have the same steps and have the same issue, they are a real pain to adjust. I got pins with the D ring and that helps but still real finicky. I would hope Lipert would come with a mod for the existing steps

My experience with the JT Strongarms is that they completely eliminate the shake when set up properly. I leave my T handles in when traveling and have not lost one in thousands of miles of highway travel.

Hi Ray, We will be at FOY near the Salton Sea January through March. If you are in the area around that time frame I'd love to see how the roof coating on your trailer looks. I have a bunch of solar panels and would like to find something I could use, maybe brushing under them. I don't want to remove them.
Also I want to give a big thumbs up to the Sumo Springs I installed on our 30' Laredo 5th wheel. They made a big improvement. We have tons of command hooks in the trailer we hang sweaters, hats, jackets, etc. When we would stop after several hours travel much of the items in the rear of the trailer would be on the floor. After installing the Sumo springs they now all stay put, so the trailer isn't bouncing as much. My wife even noticed the improvement in the trailers effect on the truck very shortly after the install. Easy install and only moderate investment and no maintenance! Thanks, John

Was there a reason you went with acrylic vs silicone? Thanks!

If you really want to get a great ride install a set of shocks. I did that to the trailer we had and the difference in handling and stability was amazing to say the least. I never would have thought they would make that much of a difference. I didn't buy a kit. I bought the parts I needed off of ebay and got it all for a little over $100. The kits are way more.

The big issue I had with the solid stairs is when the trailer is in storage, you can’t open them as they hit the trailer next to you. Also making stops when you want to get into the trailer and the ground is sloping away from you ie: along the highway, you may not have enough of an extension to set the stairs down. Personally I would not have it again, a lot of trouble getting in and out of my trailer when in storage, had to use a ladder to climb over the stairs.

Ray, do notice any roof sealant running down the side of your rig? I've noticed some spray cleaner applications I've used in the past ended up forming a temporary powdery-like coat on the side...wondering if something similar happens with sealant.

Nice updates ray I’m really liking my dexter ez flex and wet bolt kit similar to yours in the spring I’m going to get the Goodyear endurance tires I’ve had gladiator tires on the trailer for 5 years now from national tires in delta really haven’t had any issues with then but I think it’s time for a upgrade have a nice holiday season in the warm weather

Hi Ray, I have the Strong Arms on our 5th wheel. No issues with leaving the T handles in while traveling. :-)

Thanks for the updates Ray. I really like that Alpha Coating. It seems to be a better option over the Dicor coating. Time will tell.

I put on the MORryde steps and the adjustment for the feet is much better with just a lever to push in. Lippert did not make steps for my smaller door.

Where do you store all those solar panels when traveling?
