Star Wars is an American epic space opera multimedia franchise created by George Lucas, which began with the eponymous 1977 film and quickly became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon.

The Star Wars franchise depicts the adventures of characters "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away", in which humans and many species of aliens (often humanoid) co-exist with robots (typically referred to in the films as 'droids'), who may assist them in their daily routines; space travel between planets is common due to lightspeed hyperspace technology. The planets range from wealthy, planet-wide cities to deserts scarcely populated by primitive tribes. Virtually any Earth biome, along with many fictional ones, has its counterpart as a Star Wars planet which, in most cases, teem with sentient and non-sentient alien life. The franchise also makes use of other astronomical objects such as asteroid fields and nebulae. Spacecraft range from small starfighters, to huge capital ships such as the Star Destroyers, to space stations such as the moon-sized Death Stars. Telecommunication includes two-way audio and audiovisual screens, holographic projections, and HoloNet (internet counterpart).

The universe of Star Wars is generally similar to ours but its laws of physics are less strict allowing for more imaginative stories. One result of that is a mystical power known as the Force which is described in the original film as "an energy field created by all living things ... [that] binds the galaxy together". The field is depicted as a kind of pantheistic god. Through training and meditation, those whom "the Force is strong with" exhibit various superpowers (such as telekinesis, precognition, telepathy, and manipulation of physical energy). It is believed nothing is impossible for the Force. The mentioned powers are wielded by two major knightly orders at conflict with each other: the Jedi, peacekeepers of the Galactic Republic who act on the light side of the Force through non-attachment and arbitration, and the Sith, who use the dark side by manipulating fear and aggression. While Jedi Knights can be numerous, the Dark Lords of the Sith (or 'Darths') are intended to be limited to two: a master and their apprentice.

Force-wielders are very limited in numbers in comparison to the population. The Jedi and Sith prefer the use of a weapon called a lightsaber, a blade of plasma that can cut through virtually any surface and deflect energy bolts. The rest of the population, as well as renegades and soldiers, use plasma-powered blaster firearms. As a result of galaxy-scaled politics (involving republics, empires, kingdoms, alliances, etc.), all this weaponry is made use of in various military conflicts during which most Star Wars material takes place. In the outer reaches of the galaxy, crime syndicates such as the Hutt cartel are dominant. Bounty hunters are often employed by both gangsters and governments. Illicit activities include smuggling.

I'm glad that now they are using the volume (when it's needed. Quantumania overused it.) when needed to help the actors and also the cinematography. Do you agree??

Ian McKellen had the same issue while shooting the Hobbit it must be such a change of pace compared to Lord of the rings

I feel sorry for actors these days. They want to act in social places... the theater must be so nice

And this is what makes LOTR so special. Practical effects and elite cinematography.

I recall that sequence of obi Wan walking around playing detective as a kid as the best thing in the world, it was mysterious I had no idea what could happen, I've always liked tone, mood, setting in movies, like if it feels serene, and when it's raining and he walks into the clean white building with the languid aliens, that just does it for me, such a visceral air of intrigue. What a testament to him as an actor for capturing that without references, and to whoever painted that in. I'm sure there's a fascinating element to the green screen as well, just what your mind comes up with could be or prompt anything

It just shows how good of actors they are though, conveying any amount of emotion in dialog when they have no one to riff off of in a scene

This man single handedly carried the movies.

This was the age where CGI addiction overcame real film. I am happy to see some newer films of the last 5 years embrace practical FX again, epic location scouting and epic stages. It made Mad Max great and I am hoping the newest Alien: Romulus will also look great!

I believe Ian McKellen went through something similar when filming LOTR. He had some scenes where he was isolated for weeks in a green room with no one to act with.

this is why Ewan Mcgregor is the goat for this role. his weariness and confusion perfectly matches the character and the direction of the franchise. He is the heart of the prequels

saying you wouldn't do something again that you have to thank for where you are in life is why people say celebs are disconnected from reality.

Imagine if they reshot some of the scenes from the prequels on the volume.

I agree green screens have gone too far and the cgi is getting worse they rely on it too much just because it makes production faster.
