Suppressor all day every day. No question about it.

Sure, the muzzle brake reduces recoil a little better than a suppressor. But the large increase in noise negates all of that and then some.

A suppressor makes the rifle WAY more pleasant to shoot than a muzzle brake ever will.

In Canada suppressors are prohibited - give the gov. long enough and they will ban muzzle brakes too... unless they get away with banning all firearms completely before that time comes.

South African… both are legal and over the counter items.

I prefer the suppressor.

Silencer, because it also saves your ears.

I have never met someone that owns a suppressor that prefers shooting without it, so take that for what it is worth. Weight and handibility (is that a word) in the backcountry or horse saddle scabbard are reasons not to use one probably, but for everyday shooting, silencers are a very nice commodity.

They both have their pros and cons. For a hunting rifle, I’ve settled on not dealing with either. No extra noise or length. Find a cartridge with a recoil level you can handle.

Once you've got your hearing damage, you can't buy a new one, the choice is yours.

I keep thinking I can't afford a can and then about twice a year I find 700 bucks for something I'd use even less. I really need to suck it up, it would be life changing.

Can we get a muzzle brake showdown episode? 😁

The recoil impuls is very different between the two, the suppressor is a slower push and the muzzle brake is much shorter and sharper. Suppressor for me thanks.

For Hunting Rifles Supressors all day for Competition Shooting Muzzle Break (the Mirage from the Supressor on a cold Day makes your Life at the Range misserable after 5 to 10 Shots you doesnt see the Target clear)

Suppressors are not attractive but they do work, I personally don't own one but I have been around them and the noise reduction is a good trade off for a little more recoil

A muzzle brake will always have a greater effect on the felt recoil of a rifle but it comes with a lot of downsides. A suppressor has a more balanced approach and more upsides at the downside of more weight and higher cost.

I'm not sure where you obtained those numbers, but 45% is unrealistic.

I have been shooting 270 and 30-06 since I was 11 years old without either. Honestly not sure why this is such an issue for people

If I lived in a free state I would get the suppressor, but I do not so it's muzzle brake for me
