The old man with the metal detector in the beginning of the video is my grandfather. He came to Chicago from Puerto Rico in the 70s and supported a wife with 9 kids driving the CTA bus. Crazy cool you caught him doing his thing enjoying retirement.

I visited Chicago early September of this year and I fell in love with the city. The city was surprisingly clean and everyone in the city or around the city was super kind. It made a long lasting impact. While my full week trip, I did not feel in danger at all. I could have wandered around the city for hours if I could have.

I really wish my city of Los Angeles was as great as Chicago.

Chicago natives and Illinois natives, be very proud!!

Peter, I have never commented on any of your videos, but that little boy at the BBQ stand is the epitome of innocence in a place that can be far from it. I don't know why, but when he started talking about pricing and food quantity and that it is about the people and not the money, made me tear up a little. What an amazing bunch of role models he has around him. I hope he never changes.
I love Chicago! I met my wife there. Never stop showing the true America.

The homeless man giving the immigrant the shoes is really heart warming! Sure he couldn't fit the other ones but he probably could have sold them for money! It's so sad that he has to sleep outside while the other people get to sleep INSIDE of the police station! I must find that man!! This is so sickening!

I'm from South Africa and we visited Chicago in 2010 and I found it to be probably the most beautiful cities in the US. We rented bicicles and cycled throughout the city. We walked at night and I felt safe. Never saw anything weird. We where however always in the city centre. I loved it
