@wretched I'm a Christian with some food for thought...
Then God loves us with conditions which is basically obedience. He not only expect us but commands us to love Him with ALL our heart, mind, and soul. That is a fair exchange relationship where God loves the believer, but at the same time the believer loves Him back. In many churches they speak about God loving us unconditionally regardless of sin.
Knowing that formula of love the Lord models for us, is it fair for Christians to say that we should love unconditionally? Say... If our husband beats us, are we then do stay? I'm going to translate the question: if we didn't love Lord accordingly, would He even stay? I believe that proves we never understood what love is to begin with. I'm saying this because some think God is meant to do all the love work for us just as they think one party should always stay in a relationship and do the hard love work regardless of the other party not serving them back with love...
