Where does imagination come from? Neuroscientists have only recently begun to examine the elusive nature of creativity in connection to music. One key area of study is the notion of improvisation—a foundational element in so many musical art forms such as Jazz and Hip Hop.

Applying his popular workshop format from our first Music and the Mind weekend, Dr. Charles Limb returns to show how encouraging and developing musical improvisational skills in children has led to a better understanding for how creativity is implemented in the human brain. This year, he’ll be joined by Kennedy Center Artistic Director of Jazz Jason Moran, Freestyle Love Supreme co-founder Anthony Veneziale, music therapist Ed Roth, and jazz piano prodigy Matthew Whitaker to help demonstrate!

FABULOUS! A must-watch for all music students. Every music student should receive improvisation training (not just jazz students) from the start of musical study. This is totally possible! I've been doing it for over 15 years, and I'm not alone!

very, very interesting conclusions. deserves alot more attention. an experienced comedian would have been a great addition to this show. creativity is such a big part of storytelling and improvisation (also in jokes)
