In this video, I show you how to build a passive food source in Grounded. The build consists of a pit-like trap which attracts weevils using mushrooms and then stops them from escaping. It is by far one of the easiest ways to get food in the game.

If you make it 3 by 3 and grow a toadstool you don't have to keep dropping mushrooms. Then put the spike traps around the toadstool and hey presto

i did this before... it works but if you wanna refill the mushrooms less often.. just ad a table in the middle and put the shrooms on there... cheers

I think if you build it around a mushroom it can be even better since it'll renew itself of mushrooms

It's all fun in games till you go to back to your base and come back to a wolf spider chilling in it

you can also use this design and build it around clovers to trap aphids to farm its trinket for honey dew and aphid meat instead. this is because aphids visit clovers to create honeydew. I'd use the clovers that are naturally grown in combination with a planted one for best rates and increase the size. this combined with a stuffed aphid or other low lvl stuffed bug to rub for increased drops.

I used this and it works wonders, just started playing on switch.

I'll probably have to look into this on the next new-ish file for Jerky stockpiling, using the grown Toadstool method. Roasts are essentially invalidated by Meals, but Jerky is always valuable.

There are 2 different ways to reroll trinkets, post 1.4.

1- Using the sausager, save your game beforehand. Then start making as many trinkets as you want. Sleep to speed up the process. Check the abilities on the trinkets. If you're not happy, load the manual save and retry. The abilities are chosen the moment you start making the trinket.

Edit: The trick with the sausager only works starting at NG+3, if you have infected all 3 ant queens. Otherwise, it can work earlier, but with trinkets with 2 effects (NG+2) or 1 effect (NG+1)

2- When fighting enemies that have a high chance to drop cones, kill a few of them close to each other but don't loot. When they are all dead, equip a trinket with Loot Luck and activate Dissection Expert, save the game, THEN loot. If you don't get cones, then keep playing and try again later. If you do get cones, look at the abilities, if you're not happy reload, then loot them again. The items you get are picked when enemies spawn, but the abilities on the trinkets they drop are picked the moment you loot them.

Edit: this last trick can be used as early as NG+1, with Black Ox Beetles dropping cones with a 5% chance (higher with Loot luck from Mut, trinket and/or stuffed insects). There are 3 easy locations where you can find at least 2 Beetles close to each other for this trick, being: South of Moldorc Castle, under the rocks (2 of them), North of Moldorc castle, on the northern side of the wooden fence (2 of them), and in the undershed, near the entrance (3 of them)

Funny thing for me was that I wanted mushroom plant in the middle of the outside the house but inside the walls, and weevils would come in from one entrance (that I usually left open) and they would try to leave through a closed door, making them stuck inside my base

And make a weapon spicy so when you kill them it’s an instant roast! Perfect for traveling around the yard

I’ve unintentionally built something like this for my base, only it’s apparently for Red Ants.

I put spike strips for added defense around my base, which is not far from the Red Ant hill. Every time I cook meat, or put meat on the jerky rack, within minutes I have DOZENS of dead ants surrounding my base 🤣

The best passive food source is farming the billy hog hotdogs until you get the infinite food charm.

I like to make a box in the middle so i don't tame any unless i want to for trinkets and so I don't have to get a grave.
