Yashica Y35 Preview

Last week Yashica, the iconic Japanese camera brand lifted the veil on its new camera. The Yashica Y35 is a new ‘digiFilm’ camera that shoots digital photos with the help of pretend rolls of film.

Now it has been a long time since a new product has had me so excited, but what Yashica are doing here is something very different. While there may be many detractors, I personally can not wait to get my hands on one.

Try moving the microphone closer to you for better sound.

Do not like it. It is like the retro Nokia. Novel idea but a waste.

What a curious outlook don't have the self discipline to turn your display off or facing inwards? Just by a M4/3 camera with a viewfinder and a articulating LCD that can face inwards Shut off the info on the viewfinder and you have a Y35 with much much better dynamic range and image quality with RAW output that is malleable in Lightroom ....

An Olympus EM5 II can be everything the Y35 is only far far better And you don't have to miss that shot doing the fake rewind ...

Buy a second generation M4/3 used .... Buy that dirty cheap Chinese camera and a used prime ....

It is really a pity that Yashica didn't make something worthy of their concept Even at 149$ it really doesn't cut

The cartridges could have been interesting if they hired a computer and image science team to make something more than instagram filters they hired that lovely model
