One of these rare moments when the YouTube algorithm suggest you a true hidden gem. I'm in complete awe! Wunderful music.

My eldest son, who has a far more world music view than me, is always trying to open his old man's ears to something different and a while ago he sent me a link to this outfit. Never looked back. Just lovely to listen to.

I discovered Touareg music in 1991 in deep south Algeria and i have been immediately captivated. Tinariwen keep this passion alive. In addition, these musicians fight for their people's right where the world stays silent since decades.

I was incredibly fortunate to live among the Touareg during the drought in 1984. They taught me so much, including the power of music to unite people and soothe the soul. Back then none of the music was electric. It was the human voice and creative instruments with amazing sounds to the ever present Rhythm that kept life going despite the hardship of the Sahara. I am so grateful that it can now be shared with the world.

What a mastery of instruments for harmony of Mother Nature...I'm happy to be human.
How do we ennoble ourselves beyond all these religious, economic, sociological and nonsensical barriers, if I may.
Let's evolve yet maintaining our differences.

It is hard to find a band that sings
" what you live " !
Most of the songs of this band talk about the suffering of the Tuareg people in that barren desert🏜🌄.(Such as the difficulty in the presence of water💧💧, and high temperature☀️🌡...)
In addition, they were contributing to the liberation of their land (Azawad) from the Malian authorities.
In the morning they carry their weapons🔫, and in the evening they go to record music in the studio 💿🎧🎤
So all respect and appreciation for this great people who are still suffering so far, From the oppression of Mali's damned authority.
So, We wish you safety and good health.
And a life in love and peace ✌.

Tanmmirt nnun "IMAZIGHEN", As we say here in Morocco.
or "IMOUHAGH" As you say there in the Tuareg desert.
The Berber identity brings us together ⵣⵣⵣ

As a left handed bassist myself, it's always awesome to see someone else doing it the same. This guy's even more badass, he's playing it upside down!! What a rarity, this is so awesome.

Those bass lines son! Everything works here. Y'all have a great sound. It's hypnotic, and as a guitar player I enjoy the scales your playing. We don't have too much like this in the states.
