Sonic Droplets - Steel Buds
Commissioned for the Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2022-23, Sonic Droplets - Steel Buds (2022) by Haegue Yang
Lives and works in Berlin, Germany in collaboration with Studio Manuel Raeder .
The installation consists of more than 100,000 stainless steel bells. Installed in historic Aspinwall House, a five-part curtain divides the room into four distinct transitional sections, while incorporating two columns within its sonic field As viewers walk through the curtain their movements activate the bells, creating sounds analogous to the aural natures of multiple ritualistic practices, both spiritual and secular.
