Tour de France 2019 Stage 17 Highlights: Pont du Gard - Gap

Today’s stage transitions into the Alps over 200km, and with the mountains looming tomorrow it was a stage for the breakaway to animate the race. Fast from the start as teams tried to get riders into the move, the stage was eventually decided by a surprise winner. This isn't a livestream but it's the only Tour Highlights you'll need #TdF2019

Could anyone help with the meaning of "GC" as in "GC riders". This English acronym is unknown to be and I can't seem to find an explanation on Google.
