Peak Design VS. Quad Lock - The BEST motorcycle cell phone mount!?

preview_player
Показать описание
I have tried all of the popular brands of motorcycle cell phone mounts. I am very picky when it comes to the mount and the case. The Peak Designs mount is not only the best functioning mount, but also the best looking. A cell phone is something you handle all day every day, the case on it should be quality and Peak Designs nailed that as well.

I’m running the Quadlock wireless charger on mine as my phone is my GPS and we all know it drains the battery quick. Zero problems with it even in bad weather so I’ll stick with. Not against trying the Peak on a different bike down the road. An informed decision is always the best one.

I started riding 2 years ago (kinda late for a 48 year old but better late than never!). I watched the FortNine comparison video and they ended up ammending the video to give Peak Design the crown. I bought one and its worked wonderfully.

Glad to see your video reinforcing my choice. I agree with everything you observed. Peak Design is the unanimous best choice.

I really liked you doing the comparisons. I've at times wished I had a phone mount on my bike but what makes me not put a mount on my bike is reason I ride to get away from the tech and electronic noise of life. I can read a map. I just want listen to my bike (NO EAR BUDDS), see the sights, smell the smells. Just ride.

I can personally vouch for this mount and case system. I dropped my bike 4 times during my first 2 months of riding, practicing slow speed maneuvers (2x) and city riding (2x), and never once did the phone get dismounted from my bars. My only issue with it after 9 months of use, is that if you live in an area with 40C all-year weather, the adhesive will slowly peel off. Mine is about halfway peeling. The case also actually does its job and not just marketing BS.

I was going 50km/hr 2 weeks ago and my phone got dislodged from the mount (phone was not mounted properly as I thought since the peeling rubber got in the way as I was in a hurry), my phone tumbled a good 15 feet on its sides and I found it face down. I'd already assumed the worst as I've seen tons of phones get cracked or dented just from drops, but no, this case actually saved my phone. Not even a hairline crack on the screen, dents, or scratches on the body, but the case is badly damaged on all corners like rough-textured and mangled, bits of the rubber were splitting open. The case also defies logic in that it almost never gets dirty or stains even through multiple 600-2000km tours without any cleaning in between. Through rain and dust, you can just wipe it after with wet wipes and it's good as new.

Copied my comment from other videos since not many people have had accidents while having the Peak Design combo and felt it best to let people know that this system works flawlessly

Great comparison and vide👍 I am running the powered quad lock on my bike. Works great and a little easier to use than the none powered one. I really like the peak design but wont be switching for a bit as I use quad lock on my second bike and truck and that gets pricey to switch everything.

This is very helpful. I was not aware of Peak design. I currently have the quad lock but it’s a pain getting on sometimes. I will definitely be looking at switching

Wow, I just checked out peak designs pricing. I think I'll stick with quad Lock. I know it works and it's priced a lot better than peak design, although still way too high. These companies are out of control with their pricing.

I use the quad lock on my galaxy fold 6. Very heavy device. Not 1 issue. Also use the in car mount with works well.

I love my Peak Design case and loved the Moto mount, too (I have switched to using a different Nav system): I could always read the Nav instructions and it was easy to unmount and remount the phone while riding to take some impromptu riding videos. The only downsides I have come up with is that (1) it's premium-ness results in a higher price tag, (2) the case is a bit thick for my tastes (though it protects the phone really well), and (3) it doesn’t have a REAL Camera Control button but just a poorly-designed cutout. Other than that, my case still looks brand new (washing it once a week is my "trick") and it's ecosystem of mounts is really handy and convenient (and, as you noted, it looks really sharp). As you can tell, I'm a BIG fan!

I'm looking for a system to lock two phones together for work...unfortunately this is a no-go for that. Thanks for the video!

Looks good I’ve using the ram line phone holder with good results it’s not easy to remove it while riding though

Already have the quad lock. Not buying another one. Great info though.

One thing you forgot to mention was a price comparison. 2 years ago (when I bought it) Peak Design was cheaper than Quadlock and included vibration dampener while its an extra charge on Quadlock.

I run the quad lock. Haven’t heard of the other one, but will look into it.

Do you need a vibration dampener with the Peak Designs?

G'day from Down Under Guys. What do you think of the Ciro 2nd generation perch mounts - no dampening.

To be completely honest, I quit mounting a phone on my bikes when I got my Forty-Eight. Something about a phone on the bars of that bike just seems weird.

That said, on my sport bike, I used to use a Quad Lock, mounted in the middle of the bars. I didn’t like the case though.

This mount, with its case, looks a lot better than the Quad Lock… I might try one on my sport bike.

Does the Peak design work with a magnetic wallet & home charging station?

I’m not sure the Peak design has had enough of a body of work to truly determine on all types of riding if it’s indeed better. The Quad Lock has been best in show for quite awhile with a huge loyal following for a reason.
