Nice video, I like how you showed every step in an easy approachable way for all viewers of all ages. I’m a carpenter by trade, and I do woodworking projects on the side. Subscribed to see what other projects you come out with down the line. 🤟🏻

About 25 years ago I made some tables very similar to this using 1/4" thick strips. Rather than squirrel tables, I cut openings in the table for salt and pepper shakers. They were four 1" strips wide, spaced about 1/8". I never attempted to sell them but gave them as gifts to a few folks.
If I were to make them today, I would definitely use CA glue. I used no fasteners, only glue, so getting the center piece mounted was always a challenge.

Great idea. strong tables Thanks for posting.

I give you credit for making something that sells. Lots of woodworkers build expensive products that sit in the garage because nobody wants them. I wish you well and hope your woodworking career takes off.

Lol!!! I am sitting here in my shop after 40 some years and looking at the scrap on the floor. You definitely inspired me! I think I can make about 2, 000 squirrel picnic tables right now! And probably will!

I just happened to have had some scrap 1x2 furring strips laying around, which was just enough to give this a try. I used CA glue (hoo man I need more ventilation in my shop) so it went together fast. I think it took maybe an hour first time. Your dimensions work great but I would make the 3 strips for the table top same length as the seats next time. It's sitting on the kitchen table right now with a butter dish on top, wife actually likes it! I can see doing a lot of different things with this, THANK YOU for the idea.

I have a giant moving box full of scraps so I should give this a try! At $20, you made around 50 tables, which is not too much work since you have a good work plan for these.

Gnome/fairy gardens are a thing now. I could see a Gnorman Rockwell reenactment.

What is the angle of the cuts on the legs? I tried at 45 degrees but it looked weird. I’ll keep experimenting but was curious what angle you used. Thanks!
