It’s actually insane on how fathers don’t cry in front of their kids to try to fulfill that proper dad role, pretty sad though on how much stuff is bottled up

Father dropped out of school after elementary. Too proud to go back, too ashamed to admit regretting it. Struggling financially all his life. When I passed entry exams to high school, he cried and hugged me. I had come further than he ever had. Told me NEVER to become like him.

I’ve only seen my father cry a few times. When his father was diagnosed with six different stage four cancers. My sister almost died in the hospital, then I almost died in the hospital 2 years later. And when his sister’s husband was murdered.

I've only ever seen my father cry once I saw him cry when I made the high school volleyball team. He cried cuz he was so proud of me and he knows how hard I've worked after not making it the last 2 years

Only once I can recall. When he told me and my brother our grandpa had cancer. As I sobbed in his arms he cried too. He made me pull myself together.

When my baby brother was first starting to eat meat, he was eating crumbled hamburger meat. As I understood it, the baby of the family sat next to Dad and he was the one who fed them. My baby brother became completely obstructed and had turned blue. My Dad trying to get my brother unobstructed had tears running down his face, as nothing he seemed to be doing was working. Apparently, after he had been without air long enough, his muscles apparently relaxed and the hamburger finally dislodged and he began to breathe again. Other than this one time, I don't remember ever seeing Dad cry.

At my sister's 50th birthday, exactly one week before we lost her to fallopian tube cancer. Also the only time I ever heard him tell anyone he loved them.

My father has cried twice that I’ve known of. The first time was when my brother found out our grandpa never hugged our dad and when my dad was on a call with our grandpa my brother got mad at him and asked why he never hugged him, basically defending my dad. He cried and hugged my brother. The second time was after my grandma passed away back in December 2023, my mom came to break the news and he cried with her (they’re divorced and they hugged for the first time in who knows how long) My grandma and dad were in like a I hate him/her but love him/her relationship (grandma was his ex mother in law and he was good to her even after the divorce)

Only twice, once when my mom got diagnosed with cancer and then 5 years later when she got re-diagnosed with cancer

I’ve seen my dad cry twice. One when I was a young child I ran away because I wanted to live with my best friend and they couldn’t find me. The other time was when my childhood dog got put down.

Seen it a few times. I made him cry once. Well, made both of us cry. And I saw him cry a few times after his mom passed.

Only time I saw my father cry was when our beloved German shepherd died. We had her for 8 years. In those years, she and my dad grew so close. A month before her death, she was diagnosed with cancer, I never figured out what kind because my parents couldn't talk about it without getting upset, and I could see the hurt in my father's eyes everyday. After awhile, we decided to end her suffering. Tears poured down mine and my father's cheeks and we lost our favorite dog in the living room of our own home.

The fact that he’d never see her again didn’t make him cry only when he realized the fear and suffering she endured in her last moments made him cry

On 4/9/24, I was playing with my dog until she started throwing up a lot. She was about to turn 12 a few month after. Then my dad comes upstairs with the vet on the phone and he was in tears. I asked what was wrong, and he said we had to put her down. Then he started crying and so did I. Fly high, Hannah.❤️
