That second story was very powerful, the insight that the guy had, how he didn't want to kill the bear, it wasnt a celebration. When you are out in nature you must respect it.

The story of the firefighter going missing and ending up 30.000 miles from his previous location was absolutely wild! Thank god that he was found alive but my god...dude went through it

I was studying abroad in Bouquet when the girl’s remains were found! The family had near football field size “missing posters” on the side of the mountains! The locals said a “tiger” ate them… though, I’m sure “jaguar” was the intended translation. Hiking was actually quite a challenge since the air is much thinner than where I am from. I have to wonder if that was a contributing factor to the hike going so badly. Most of the locals were kind, but many were impatient, which is understandable. Imagine having a never ending hoard of college kids speaking very poor English at you…Indigenous folks kept to themselves and were very kind, but the police sucked. Many horror stories there, including my stolen cell phone, but…I’ll save that anger for a more relevant time. I was told they had zero interest in helping foreign students because we “wouldn’t be their problem in a month anyway”, that they didn’t like foreigners, and that we were only tolerated because we spend a lot of money.
