Assassin's Creed Unity released on the same day as Assassin's Creed Rogue on November 11th, 2014. I think many of you know Assassin's Creed Unity didn't have the best launch riddled with bugs and technical issues, and for a long time that reputation followed Assassin's Creed Unity until the last few years where the public opinion on it has gotten more positive. Today I talk about the wasted potential of Assassin's Creed Unity, the history it's development and why I believe it COULD have been the best Assassin's Creed game...

I replayed this game and I really liked it. The only problem I found was the voice acting since the Frenchmen sounded really English but changing the language to French really makes it wonderful.

This is my favorite Assassin's Creed game and I have played them all. Extremely underrated and has easily my favorite setting and gameplay in the franchise. Also, while the story is far from perfect I really loved the campaign and Arno is one of the best protagonists in the series.

My favorite game. They were going down the right path. 100% the perfect foundation for future assassins creed games

I maintain to this day that Paris during the French Revolution is the absolute best setting this franchise could ever hope for. Dense urban environments in a vast city, gorgeous architecture, a turning point in history and no clear set of "good guys" from the get go, as the various factions kept radicalising and turning on each other as the revolution progressed. It's a shame the story of the game didn't capitalise on this, they should have made it so the assassins don't quite know who to align themselves with and jump to supporting different factions as the game progresses, unsure which side the Templars are backing or what their endgame is. Don't get me wrong, I like the Elise / Arno romance, but the tie-in to the historical setting could have been done a lot better.

I loved this game and I actually experienced barely any bugs. It is one of my favorites.

Unity is a good game. It is the one that I played first. I feel if the story was a lot better it would be much easier for me to play. The parkour and stealth are absolutely superb. The game could have been the new beginning for Assassins Creed however them wanting to put out Rogue and Unity at the same time handicapped both the games. Rogue could have been really interesting and have a really well realised version of the Kenway formula. I wished they developed them more and put more effort into both of them.

This game still rules despite its shortcomings, absolutely should have been the future of AC imo

Unity is arguably the best assassin's creed game ever and personally one of my favorite. I don't mind the entire occasional bug issues but the story. OH my god! it makes me wanna play tic tac toe with myself. the first time i played the game I left it half way because of how tired of I was from hearing the word "Elise" . but the fact that they are taking inspiration from unity for mirage is making me excited.

i see AC Unity as the uncut rough diamond in the AC series, just like Far Cry 2. They might have a lot of annoying things and mission structures. But the ambition like you said and the care they have put in building the worlds in both games is still unmatched to this day by any other AC or Far Cry game.

Unity was gorgeous and had great physics, I wish they had done more with it

honestly a big reason unity is so replayable is because of how good the map is and how often you get quick events chasing thieves or killing guards while running around

I recently replayed Unity (I completed it yesterday actually) and I think it is great. Unity and brotherhood are my favorite AC‘s. And I thought: What if Ubisoft released Unity one year later and worked on the game a little longer. It would have been the best AC.

Also for those who wonder how I replayed Unity: I just replayed all of the memories. You wont get the full experience with that, for example you cant replay the sequence at the start in the middle ages, the cutscene where Arno gets exiled wont play and the ending wont play as well. If there is a way to actually replay it, tips would be great :)

Edit: Also, what a great thumbnail, well done!

In an alternate universe where Unity launched with no bugs and well-received, RPG Creeds dont exist (Rip Origin but worth the sacrifice), We got lots of Unity-inspired parkour AC games where we have full fledged cool COOP missions or hell, maybe even a COOP AC game.
