Tow Truck Scam Exposed!

Many people are claiming to have been scammed by the company they hire to tow their car. In this video I investigate those companies and get to the bottom of it.

Just a tip for people here. The tow truckers carry the payment device so they charge you after towing. If someone asks for payment beforehand or through the phone is a scam.

I'm shocked someone actually showed up .. this is another example of .. why not just do this as a legitimate business and make some honest money? Charge a reasonable rate, find a local company and send a tow truck, then make some easy money.

Been a AAA member since The Travelers insurance company told me back in 1985 that I "abused" my towing service on my car insurance. I used it twice in 1985, first for the clutch cable and second for the clutch itself. They reimbursed me "$100". The towing cost on the policy? $160. So when I bought a new car after getting a new job, the Travelers said I could have towing back. I told them "No thanks, I got AAA, I'm good". AAA in 1985 cost $39/year and came with 4 tows of 4 miles or less each. LOL Get AAA or use your car insurance company (if you have that option). Good video as always! Cool Kei truck!!

Dude. Locked the keys in my work van and had this exact crap going on in Greenville, NC. Google allows these listings to all appear INCREDIBLY legitimate, while we nonethewiser choose what we can in a panic. Great vid as usual!

I'm in SW Ontario. I have never been asked for payment before the tow. Most companies will tow to wherever you ask them to, they just won't unload your car without getting paid. Worst case scenario they take your car to their lot and won't release it to you without getting paid. I would never consider giving payment information before seeing a truck.

This is an incredible testimony for AAA!!! I’ve been a member for over 30 years and have had to call them 10 times or so. The piece of mind is worth it!!!! Just a few weeks ago my “flux capacitor” went down and I had a tow in less then 15 minutes. Thanks for the great video!!!

I went through my insurance to get a tow and the closest option was apparently a random closed office building. I was told that if the tow guy was doing his job, then they would have left me there for another guy to pick me up hours later. Make sure the company is reliable even with insurance !

Call your insurance company. Even if you don’t have roadside assistance, they can set it up for you. It’s usually at a discount too.
