Just FYI, the Soldier's Medal is the peacetime/non combat equivalent of a Medal of Honor.
It's one of the rarest medals awarded, but I attended a Soldier's Medal award ceremony while I was in the army.

Yes I found Audie Murphy WWII vet who won many medals. Very decorated soldier. He became a movie star after the war but still had problems at the end of his life he had money problems and died in plane crash just before his 46th birthday
