I love Kangkong but, I didn’t know that they come in seeds. I’ve always grown them from cuttings 😂 that I buy from my local farmers market👩🏽‍🌾

So simple to grab a bucket and start something new. Rain mitigation has been one of my biggest challenges outdoors with Kratky method. Required a lot of container testing, and ideas. Happy growing my friend!

Pretty cool :-) I'll get around to trying Hydroponics maybe in the near future. Looks like a lot of fun haha

Thanks for the video. I would add to be super careful of (heavy) rain. Where I live this is the typhoons season and it can kill a kratky plant easily. Second time I made the same mistake, just lost two pepper plants with roots basically drowned (I assumed that the small roof on top was enough – it wasn’t).

Excess water is not a problem and sometimes you even need to add it deliberately when leaf mass is big and it's hot - otherwise solution could become too saturated and could damage the plant. I think even Kratky wrote about it somewhere.

i always drill hole in the bucket for the rain problem so it keep the water at a certain level

A suggestion: get a large potting mix/soil bag; just the bag. Cut down one of the long seams, and ONLY ONE SEAM. Cut along the BOTTOM seam ONLY. You should have a nice, wide sheet of UV resistant plastic sheet now. The insides are ussuallly white. Cut a hole in the center of the WHOLE sheet. The hole should be in themiddle of the seam you did not cut and should be just big enough to fit the plant through. A very samll plant can be fitted from the top town, like putting on a shirt over your head. A large plant should be from the bottom up, like putting on pants. Finally, make sure to completely cover the bucket, mesh bag and net pot with the plastci sheet. Secure in place with tape or twine.

The purpose: the palstic is UV resistant and will last for several seasons in the full sun. The white inside will act a reflector and helps to stimulet photosynthesis on the bottomes of the leaves. The plastic, itself, will protect the mesh bag from UV, to which the mesh is very sensitive and will start breaking down efore the season is even over. also, the plastic will shade the bucket, thus keeping the reservoir cooler and helps to protect the bucket from UV.

If you really want to protect the bucket and keep the reservoir cooler, wrap the bucket in that silver, insulating material that is common among indoor hydro growers, THEN cover that in the soil-bag plastic.

So we don't need water bubblers for oxygen if they're leaving it outside I'm in zone 9B Sacramento hot and dry summers
