Some businesses have been told to vacate the Mission Valley Mall as the store owners say their leases have not been renewed. They say after helping to bring people back to the mall during the pandemic, they're now being tossed out.

“It’s bitter-sweet, you know, to see this place go, you know, after everything that I worked for," said Anthony Temple, owner of three storefronts at the mall for the past three years.

Two of his businesses, Temple Custom Jewelers and Temple Barber Lounge, have to be vacated by Saturday, June 1.

“Everything you see here from the stations to the electrical, even the walls that were put up, I built it from the ground up,” said Temple as he gave CBS 8 a tour of his barber lounge.

You'd think shopping malls wouldn't be too choosy.

I feel terrible for this gentleman. I wonder what this new vision might be. Hard not to be suspicious without knowing that.

No Small Businesses Allowed. Renting 2 or 3 business spaces in a mostly vacate looking mall, then kick out business. Wow, super Sad. So the new corporate owners clearly do not care about San Diego and small business. Super greedy Corporations.

My new vision for Mission Valley shopping center is to never spend another penny there due to their dumb decision. My new direction.

It would be nice if there was a list of all the businesses that are not able to renew their leases.

What beautiful spaces he made as well! That’s bonkers & sad because honestly the places he made are so nice & aesthetic.

Guy should hire some people to deconstruct everything he had built and relocate. Strip it of everything he paid for.

I wish you nothing but the best! Don’t look back! Keep your eye on the prize! You’ve got some great enterprises going, so it’s their loss.

As a small business owner, how do you not see what is coming. All the malls are changing it really should have been no surprise to them. I'm glad they stayed in business and relocated.

So basically they’re kicking all of the black people out.

So anything urban basically is out. They want to create a luxury style of housing so they can charge more

Times are changing. They want to create something more diverse for everyone. Not just one particular race.

why does it seem like San Diego's government is very unfriendly towards local businesses. I've been seeing negative publicity what with the whole yoga controversy and now this. It makes me wonder if i even want to entertain opening up a business in San Diego.
